I’d rather Cal force his way up There is infinitely more to learn to call a game hopefully we have the right coaches to bring him up properly. Zunino has turned into a decent player. It takes time.
Yeah I can see catchers being on a slower path. Actually makes more sense to either bring him up in meaningless Sept games or have him start OD 2022 after learning the entire staff throughout ST. That reminds me, I need book the new ST Crib. Selling Lynda's Jag to her brother for $9k (unless you want to pay me $10k ;) ) so that should cover it.

for the Not side of the ledger, my namesake starter Darren McCaughan sucks.
He was great in AA, so that must mean he's ready to start for the Mariners :D That's why you need to see these players go through all the steps before calling them up though. Hopefully we see McKinney make that jump to AAA soon to see if he can handle it.
Yeah I think they are actually handling Cal fine. Its just when you compare his path to to JKs he has to be thinking hey why aren't I being promoted.

A lot of pitchers have made the jump from AA to the bigs albeit most are relievers. LJ pitched 10 innings in AAA. Dunn pitched Zero. Marge pitched zero. McKinney could do it and he would probably be fine.
I wouldn't be upset if they did, but I'd like to see him in AAA first

I don't know if he will see better hitters. Just more older AAAA types like Marm, Kelly, Travis, Reinheimer, Filia, Dylan Thomas, Blankenhorn and Witte.

Basically the Washington Generals of pro baseball. Best hitting on Tacoma's roster is probably Trammel right now. Lots of top prospects playing in AA.

They may be top prospects, but that doesn't mean they are better hitters right now. Guys don't just jump in to the AAA and have much better numbers than they do in AA as pitchers.

Well if he is promoted to AAA I hope El Paso's or SLC's or Las Vegas' version of Marmalejos or Witte teaches him a thing or two. :)

btw remember when we thought Reinheimer might be an option to replace JP? .452 OPS in the PCL. Good God.

Did "we" ever think that I certainly don't remember pimping him :)

Yes you were a HUGE Jack R fan! ;) I meant we the Forum. He had a .924 OPS in ST and some hoped he might be better than JPs toothpick bat.

I try to never get too high on anything that a small sample size, especially from someone who has a track record of not being a good player. I don't think I ever considered him to be much of an option. I think you should expect anyone who comes up to Seattle to have about half the OPS that they had in Tacoma right now, so Cal Raleighs would be about .516. That would be an upgrade from what Torrens brought at least.

I don't think any would have bet more than $1 he would replace JP, more of just hey, he is looking pretty good type deal and JP was sucking at the time.

At first I was going to say half might be a bit much. I think Cal could go .600 thanks to his power but Trammel's OPS almost tripled after the demotion. lol

Here you asked about Jack and I responded:

There are some names there worth watching for sure. Tell me more about Marlow and Rienheimer. Not as familiar with them
Shenton is #19 at the moment but could move up close to the top 10. Filia is so old he could be Marte's Dad. He is what he is and zero power will get him nowhere while only being able to play Power positions. He has been in the org almost a a decade and if he can't hit for power now he never will. DeLoach is my guy. Jack R had a good ST but he is just a guy as his bad start to the season is showing. He won't get called up unless there are injuries.
