Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
Crawford put up 2.8 WAR, that's a waste of $10 mil?
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
Not the $10M but the fact it resulted on them passing on all the FA SSs the past 2 off seasons...

You really believe that if they didn't have Crawford they be signing a $300 mil SS? A team that spent $1.5 mil in FA

Exactly why most of us think DiPoto doesn't deserve a job!

It would be relative to the success rate of other GMs, nobody is 100% efficient, wonder what it bebpj wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 12:28 amSometimes I forget why they stopped letting him spend money, then remember how he's allocated money previously...

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
See where the Times has it looks like a couple of stories putting dipoto on the defensive over the lack of action. Divish putting some heat on.

“We would like to add more offense if we could,” Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said. “We’d like to create more advantage either by platoons or just depth as we get deeper into the offseason. And then if something else presents itself that makes our team better, we are open to that.”
From Kramer, four reasons the mariners could improve in 2023, don't think you will be excited over them.We are doing it a different way

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
I don't think we would find any with a worse $/WAR spanning several seasons, or a worse rate of success in his picks.
Especially that got a promotion after.
You could make a short term case with the Angels spending $57.6M on Rendon and Syndergarrd in 2022 and only getting 2.0 total fWAR.
But at $28.8M/WAR, even that barely comes close to Dipoto's average of spending $29.5M/WAR across his 6 full seasons for all of his bad choices.

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
Unreal. The number of players is a bit more than a MLB roster. If an entire roster put up 6.2 WAR they would be expected to go 54-108 and have a payroll of $182.9M which is about $50M larger than our current payroll.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 12:28 amSometimes I forget why they stopped letting him spend money, then remember how he's allocated money previously...
