He pitched 3 scoreless innings for us before we dumped him. He also was better than the guy we just traded a top 100 prospect for.
Castillo was DFA'd by multiple teams last year and last I checked is possibly playing in an Asian league in '26.
You really think the Mariners were the only team offering a premium trade for Ferrer? You're actually that dense?
The guy literally had a worse season than a pitcher who got DFA'd 4 times and you think trading a top 100 player for him is a fair deal. Ferrer has been around three seasons already and has shown zero ability to be a high leverage arm. But hey he throws 98!
reminds of all the guys insisting that Kelenic was a future super star because he was a "5 tool talent" and just needed some time to work things out.
Are you going to be happy with the trade if Ferrer comes in here and puts up another Mediocre season? Of course not. He needs to improve drastically for this to be a good trade. Could it happen? Sure. But giving up a top 100 prospect for a guy that you're hoping can do something that he has never done before seems foolish to me.
He had a 2.76 and 3.03 FIP the last 2 years and skill set presents significant upside.
Kelenic's performance and underlying metrics were horrific. That's why he wasn't worth anything when the M's traded him. The opposite is true for Ferrer.
