Tristan Casas?

Any interest in acquiring him? What would it take? Prospects? Maybe a BP arm and a prospect?

How about something like:

M's get Casas 1B 29.8M

Sox get Gregory Santos 8.4M BP, C Harry Ford 18.4M (26.8M)

WHy would the Sox do it? They were shopping him earlier in the offseason. Devers has been worth a -7 on Defensive runs saved for the last 2 years. Bregman is a really good defender at 3B.
Prospects:
#2 SS Marcello Mayer was a #4 overall pick who hit AA last year to a .850 OPS tune.
#3 2B/SS/OF Campbell had a .997 OPS split up from A+/AA/AAA in 2024 also a 60 overall grade
Graduated
David Hamilton 2B/SS 2.6 WAR in 294 PAs in 2024
Rob Refsnyder

M's The top 5 look OK, but adding another you hitter that is MLB proven is a good thing. He's got a 125 OPS+ and not a lot of difference vs L/R. He could DH vs RH and slide over to 1B vs LHP.

1. Robles RF
2. J. Rod CF
3. Raley* 1B
4. Cal** C
5. Randy LF
6. Casas* DH
7. Polanco** 3B
8. Bliss 2B
9. JP* SS

Bench Garver, Solano1,2,3b, Shenton* 1B/3B OF, Moore IF/OF

That is a deep lineup, and the bench offers a solid alternative you have options at 1B: 5, 2B 3, SS 2, C 2, 3B 3, OF 6.

Another trade that won't happen, but I would feel a lot better if it did.
Breaking news: The off season is over. Time to talk about who in camp is in the best shape of their life.
Wrong! We got Neftali Feliz former ALROY

You know that might actually be a big sign if we trade someone like one of the setup types for Casas. Maybe a Troy Taylor, or some package.
LOL If we trade Taylor or any reliever for Casas when we already have an 800+ OPS platoon at 1B DURING ST I will buy you a 1000 gallon beer. lol Besides the geniuses in then analytics dept have assured us dopes that a young LH power hitter has no chance of hitting in T Mobile.

Interesting, since the prevailing summer winds down at the park come in along the 3B line and go to RF. Seems to me those winds would HELP a left handed bat. But what do I know?

Horrid return for Castillo....and I am not even a Castillo fan.

#5 starter, an overpaid DH, a noodle bat INFer and a prospect that had an OPS in the 500s in AA.

Both Solano and Raley can play at multiple positions. Tristan can DH/1B. I am all for adding another 125 OPS+ bat who's prime years are likely in the future vs. the past. Seriously get Tristan, trade Haniger, go trade prospects for a decent LH set-up guy.

His peak velo on the fastball gas gone from 100 in 2022--> 99 in 2023--> 98 in 2024. Sometimes, these things are linear and progressive, but other times you see a rebound, or another leveling off. If the former is true, I really have a problem with not taking that Tristan/Yoshida package.

Mariners have a new strategy
Raleigh remarked, “There is more of a team orientation. It’s just focus on the team, the team, the team, and obviously it’s harder to do in an individual sport like baseball. But focusing everything on the team and having everything revolve around the team is going to be huge for us.”

Off season is over. But I am sure there are 29 teams blowing up Jerry's phone trying to pry Haniger away so I am sure he will finally relent as long as it is a MASSIVE haul for a cripple that can't run or play D and put up a .571 OPS after the first two weeks of the season last year. lol

Not that it would ever happen...

But Devers is pretty pissed it seems about the Bregman addition as he doesn't want to move off 3rd or DH.

Devers wasn't good last year at 3B but he also wasn't unplayable.

Big contract but also a big bat.
