If there is ever a time to bunt, it's down 1 with runners on 1/2 and no outs in the bottom of the 9th.
SS is truly the worst manager we have ever had. And he did it TWO innings in a row!!!!

I understand it a bit more with Dee Gordon. He is less likely to GIDP, and a bunt only gets someone to second, so a sac fly wouldn't score a run. I can't think of a situation that calls for a bunt more than that situation in the 9th.

I’m amazed at how, over the years, the Cubs’ popularity has become so widespread and positive. Back in the 70s, the only fans the Cubs had were hopeless no lifers, Old Style addicts, musicians, and the terminally depressed.

Uh, I was a Cubs fan in the seventies
Purely self-deprecating. I lived 10 blocks south of Wrigley on Racine & Lincoln during those years while in school studying music. I spent my share of time in those bleachers.
Hey, we might have rubbed shoulders. Were you there 72-76?

74-78. I attended Roosevelt U., bartended at Mel Markons and RJ Grunts, played the Wise Fools Pub (among other places) and booed Herman Franks. If you were at any of those institutions, it’s likely !

I was in Hyde Park hanging out at ChancesR and Jimmy’s. We’d go slumming up North to see the Cubs. ;)
