Pretty thorough assessment of possibilities to add Bats. No mention of Olson though. Scharber is really growing on me given his ability to play multiple positions and of course have the bat to be a full time DH. And he doesn't even turn 29 until ST.

I read this article. I think we pretty much had it covered already here on our forum already everything it had to say. I'm waiting for Dipoto to grab somebody, that no one on this forum has heard of or mentioned before, ala France or Toro.

Yep, he reminds me of John Schneider. Once the obvious moves become obvious they eliminate them from their list of options.

Reading Churchill is painful. After all these years, his writing is just as bad as when he started.

He has the personality of a Crawdad but I haven't noticed his bad writing. I've seen worse at Sodo Mojo. lol Paste an example of what you are referring to.

If I live to be a 1000 years old I will never understood the obsession that some dudes have with what other dudes wear when they play sports. I always wonder when they go to weddings do they obsess about the groom and groomsmen's wardrobes???

I hope he comes out with an article for his plan. He's one of those guys who always puts out stuff that makes him seem super credible and smart, but he never goes that extra step to actually say anything.

Previewing potential free agents and trade targets is such low-hanging fruit. Cool, you've told the casual baseball fan which players are free agents and which players might be available for trade, now what?

Who would you trade for JRam Jason?

Construct a darn roster.

It's a lot of little things, but mainly his writing is clunky and lacks flow, and at times he'll write like he talks. He'll insert "let me say this" into a sentence, which is fine if you're talking, but in writing it's just distracting from your point. He'll also insert sentence fragments here and there, which again, is distracting.

He's also unnecessarily wordy at times, like in the intro sentence for this post:

"As astutely and accurately demonstrated here by Luke Arkins, the Seattle Mariners struggled to score runs with any reasonable consistency in 2021, and it led to an inordinate — and ultimately unsustainable — rate of close games the club’s bullpen and ‘clutch’ hitting was asked to win."

There's nothing technically wrong with this sentence. It's just really wordy and needlessly complex. There's a much more straightforward and concise way of saying the same thing.

Here's the second sentence:

"To continue building the roster’s ability to win games, raise the ceiling and reduce the number of games the club is relying on magic, GM Jerry Dipoto has to do just that to his lineup."

There are all kinds of problems here, but the main thing is that, again, he's using a sentence construction that is needlessly complex. Just say what you mean, which is that Jerry DiPoto needs to improve the roster so that there are fewer close games and come from behind wins.

On the other hand, when I've heard him on the radio or on podcasts, he's much better. I think he's actually pretty talented in an audio format and it's kind of too bad (for him) that sports radio seems to be a dying format.

I did notice how weird that sentence was! lol

building the roster's ability to win games??? wtf? And what does JD Have to do to his lineup? He says what the results need to be but nothing about what he needs to do to his lineup to make it happen.

Under normal circumstances 99 out off 100 you are correct. I could care less. However, there is one jersey on this planet I cannot stand, and that is the Seahawks lime green color rush uniforms. Wtf!!?
