Precisely what I suggested and makes it pretty clear the are not looking to add another TOR starter.

Matthew Boyd might make sense as a cheap stopgap #5 with upside if theyre going cheap.

Seems like aiming low when they should be aiming high though.

Suzuki does seem like an easy move to improve without losing any prospects or huge contracts.
Boyd has a career ERA of 4.96. Putrid. Even Dunn is likely to outperform him. Dunn had 3.75 ERA when he got hurt.

Totally agree on Suzuki. Should have locked him up prior to the lockout.

Yeah I'm out on Boyd. He's the type of guy I would've hoped we already had in our system to stop the bleeding when Yusei was getting shelled. Speaking of which. Do you think having Kikuchi's decision to depart Seattle of his own accord will have any affect on how Suzuki makes his decision when determining as to whether or not Seattle is a desirable location to sign? I surely hope not.

No. Kikuchi left because he knew he could get more elsewhere and he didn't want to play for a team that rejected him. Zero to do with it being a good place to play.

Agreed about Boyd not being a great option.

But he won't get a big contract and adding another piece to compete with Dunn would be the bare minimum they need to do imo.

I wouldn't be much less excited about Boyd than Tyler Anderson, for example, and Anderson probably costs a lot more.

Yep, don't waste a dime on a 5th starter. We already have several at minimum wage.

Except that he's an OF and I don't think they feel the need to add to the OF

Yeah we get what you think.

Yet Dipoto already said he had a meet with Suzuki via Zoom. Maybe they were just saying hi.

Maybe JD was just brushing up on his Japanese so we don't have to pay for a Japanese interpreter? :)

Next thing we know they'll make a claim that hitting in Cincinnati makes it harder to hit on the road, rather than just admitting that you can look like Babe Ruth in Cincinnati.

Nick Castellanos wRC+:
Home: 177
Away: 105

JP Crawford wRC+:
Home: 93
Away: 113

Trevor Story wRC+:
Home: 107
Away: 93

What kind of hitter would Castellanos or Story be in Seattle?
