Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
None of the pitchers coming off the board have been top tier? I kind of disagree. Verlander and Graveman are off the board. Aaron Loup is definitely top tier....and would have been a perfect complement to augment the M's bullpen. A one year deal for Syndergaard would have been a top tier deal for the M's. If the Angels resign their closer ( Raisel Iglesias)they will have signed probably the two most effective relievers in the free agent market. Those three signings might have closed the deal for the Mariner pitching needs in 2022. They could spend the rest of the season running through our own development pieces like Dunn, Hancock, Brash, Williamson.... etc.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 11:26 amlol...As opposed to the crotchety old man contingent? And another premium left hand starter goes off the board: The Cardinals have made a late-night strike to bolster their rotation, reportedly reaching agreement with free agent starter Steven Matz on a four-year, $44MM guarantee, pending a physical.

Not quite sure why you are so lathered up over Marcus Stroman..... Didn't Cashman piss him off a couple years ago when he said Stroman wasn't "a difference maker".Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:45 pmthen Stroman is top tier, he isn't second tier to who has come off the board is he?
I'm sticking with my projection hoping the M's sign Kevin Gausman who would be a 'difference maker". His splitter is nasty and he's emerged as a top tier in the last two years. But the M's will have to fight for him and outbid at least the Red Sox, Angels, Mets, and Giants who have already expressed interest in him.

not lathered up at all, Dtrain called him second tier, i posted a top tier pitcher hasn't come off the board. Its all in how you define top tier. One may not like Stroman but he seems to be a pretty good pitcher.

Verlander had his tj surgery Oct 1 last year, so how does that compare to Paxton if someone wants to do the math
Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
Career ERA and WHIP and 2022 salary:
Thor: 3.32 1.16 $21M
JV: 3.33 1.13 $25M
Stroman 3.63 1.27 ???

Pax had his late April but he is no Verlander. It's typically 15-18 months. I would guess its possible he pitches by the end of this coming season but wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:28 pmVerlander had his tj surgery Oct 1 last year, so how does that compare to Paxton if someone wants to do the math

Yeah, I was discounting a bit for the TJ surgeries. Here is a guy that did a study, though he doesn't seem to make much of a conclusion. Seems to have more confidence in Verlander than Syndergaard
