Fantastic game for JK but not so much for White and Sheff. White is hitting .111
In the entire minor, they only guys hitting well are Arroyo and Perez who are both YEARS away. For having a top farm system that is beyond bleak.

DeLoach is doing OK in AA. He needs to show a little more pop though, and his K rate is a bit too high. He's still fairly young though. It's OK for some prospects to struggle and take time to figure it out. They needed to give Kelenic more time in AA, because I think he would have hit a slump and been better because of it.
Also, many of the top prospects are young international guys that haven't started playing yet.

Deloach was one of my favs but a .730 OPS as an almost 24 yo is pretty weak. Even JK did a lot better as a 21 yo.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 3:26 pmDeLoach is doing OK in AA. Not all development is linear, and no 2 prospects will develop the same. He's hitting OK at .262 in a hitters park, and shown improvement from his short stint last year. Haniger and France didn't break out until they were almost 25. Kyle Lewis had a .740 OPS in AA.

Stating the obvious about development not being linear doesn't allay my concerns when in fact all our hitting prospects other than Julio do seem to be developing the same, (As you just stated in your other thread) Like shit. When your AA team's OPS is 200 point below the best teams and 105 below the second worst their might be an issue and it might not be normal development ebbs and flows.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 4:04 pmNot all development is linear, and no 2 prospects will develop the same. The Mariners are trying to be the "Cool Dad" instead of the strict one and it's leading to lackadaisical game play, bat flip celebrations, and lack of competitive spirit because the Mariners are handing out "You Placed" blue ribbons and patting the players on the back saying, "Things will be ok" instead of providing instruction.

I think there are reasons to be concerned about the philosophy, I just don't see a need to get too worked up that a player isn't raking out of the gate with each promotion, and that its OK it it takes them some time to develop.D-train wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 4:14 pmStating the obvious about development not being linear doesn't allay my concerns when in fact all our hitting prospects other than Julio do seem to be developing the same, (As you just stated in your other thread) Like shit. I think not trusting the M's when it comes to developing hitters is the correct default stance unless proven otherwise. That said, I think DeLoach is doing fine. He's grinding out his time in the minors. He's got a shot to be a decent 4th outfielder type in the majors or even a second division starter. Like I've said in other posts, most major leaguers need something like 2,000 minor league plate appearances, and as of today he's only at 664. So there's a ways to go for him.

Suck for him about Covid. Losing him a year will likely cost him some loot even if he does make it.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 7:15 pmI think not trusting the M's when it comes to developing hitters is the correct default stance unless proven otherwise.
