Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
I like Sexy's idea of Brandon Belt.
DH plus backup 1st base for France with some power.
The catch? He gets hurt alot. BUT he doesn't have to play 162 games for us.
My real questions are would Belt want to play here?
Will he even play baseball this year?
He had season ending surgery on his knee.
If his soon to be 35 year old body doesn't respond well he might just hang em up.

I think the corner infield backup will be whoever is in Tacoma at the time. It's a potential disaster.
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
I still like Patrick Wisdom, who can play the corner infield positions. He has 57 hrs in 997 PA, or about 34 hrs for every 600 PA. He can backup 3B or 1B, if Ty or Geno spends some time on the DL. He's faster than JK and TT, and can play a litttle OF.

Seattle is the first metro area in MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL history to have rookies in 3 sports all begin their seasons in the same year & all earn selections to the All-Star Game/Pro Bowl later that season.

There goes Brandon Belt, $9M to the Blue Jays. Trade market hasn't materialized, so the next wave of FA are coming off the board.

That's a shame.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 2:11 amThere goes Brandon Belt, $9M to the Blue Jays. Trade market hasn't materialized, so the next wave of FA are coming off the board.
He coulda DH'd and worked one or two times a week for France.

Indeed, it is too bad, but that would have been an overpay for the budget.

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
To consider this a good offseason....who do you want that's left/available?
Imho they still need a bullpen arm...preferably a lefty like Chaffin.
If Brash makes his way back into the starting rotation i.e. 5th starter that leaves the pen short plus swanny gone.
Also someone to play the 1st/3rd corners when Geno or France need a day off.
Does Haggs/Moore fill that roll?
If so, do you just go out and then acquire a traditional DH with pop?

Yes, due to the WBC, he won't be used as a starter this season. That being said, Chaffin would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath.desbcoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 4:07 amThey stated Brash would be a reliever due to competing in WBC so no to startingseattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 4:00 amTo consider this a good offseason....who do you want that's left/available?
