You can go pick out so many players that have encouraging 20 game stretches, or even seasons. From recent memory of Mariners players only (not all with the Mariners at the time) Michael Saunders, Chris Tayler, Brad Miller, Dustin Ackley, Mike Zunino... I'm sure you can come up with a dozen more in the last 5-10 years with just Mariners names alone. Maybe it's not to the level of Vogey, but you have to do it over a long stretch of time.
None of those guys even come remotely close to Vogie and Stanton. Stanton went from being the Mariners' best power hitter in 1977 to being the second worst major league player on the planet in 1978 after fellow Mariner Dan Meyer (who put up the worst WAR ever for a Mariner position player). Vogie performed at an all-star level for half of season and then suddenly became an even worse hitter than most pitchers.

Ackley had a good rookie year and then regressed into a mediocre player but nowhere close to as bad as Stanton and Vogie. Zunino didn't have a good start to his Mariner career, he just had one great month in the middle of it so he doesn't fit in there. Taylor had a nice start in his first cup of coffee, was lousy in his second but ended up being a pretty good player so he doesn't fit in either. I have no idea why you listed Saunders and Miller.

Trust me, I know this stuff like Rain Man knows where to get his underwear. 800 Oak Street, Cincinnati Ohio.
Akley had a reasonable ML career actually...

this is draft years 2000-2010, 55 players were picked 1-5, 48 reached the majors, they averaged 12.8 WAR, Dustin had 7.7 WAR, falls more in the 10-15 range of draft picks, but that was a pretty bad draft class in general....
Draft Year 2000-2010
Overall Pick Average bWAR Number to Reach Majors Number Still in Minors
1-5 12.8 48 7
6-10 9.5 41 14
11-15 8.7 45 10
16-20 4.9 43 12
21-25 6.5 36 19
26-30 4.5 32 23

I mentioned earlier how Trammell had some injuries in 2019. Here are a few mentions of that I found

https://redsminorleagues.com/2019/06/17 ... ured-list/

https://redsminorleagues.com/2019/03/09 ... er-injury/

Lets hope he can stay healthy and have a big 2021 in Arkansas.
Good thing he is a lefty.
He seems to have good plate discipline. It just looks like he needs to clean some things up hitting wise. And I think its promising to hear that he has reverse splits and hits lefties pretty well. One would hope that the play of Lewis, Kelenic, and Rodriguez would elevate his game. The jury is still out on Fraley, Deloach, and Alberto Rodriguez.

I'd like to see us begin to acquire more 2B/SS middle infielder type prospects going forward, as well as more catching depth.

Here is a thought. If White is unable to hit to the tune of an .800+ OPS, then JRod takes over at 1B and we have a JK, Trammell, Klew OF.

I think White will be just fine.

I just gave you my OF if Trammell works out. White plays the same place Vogey is playing right now. He is back in another mini slump btw 1-9 with 4ks and no walks.

If the alternative is having a negative WAR 1B again, then yes, I would try to trade him.

And if he turns out to be terrible, nobody will trade for him. He pretty much has to pan out or it's going to throw a big monkey wrench into things, especially if this goes on for several years like it did with Smoak.

Yeah, if White doesn't make it the plan will take a hit, but it is not a death blow, especially if France can hit (probably 1B is his best position), and I've thought from the beginning White was somewhat iffy, especially at 1B. His big contract right out of AA still seems like a mystery -- sometimes you've just got to wonder about Dipoto, even with these terrific trades. And like I've said before, I worry some about Crawford's bat, I really hope he can bring up his average another 20 points. He seems more important long-term than White because SS is so essential and difficult to fill.
