M's continue to try and emulate the Braves:
Dipoto hasn't gone to arbitration in his tenure as mariners GM, and I seriously doubt he does with Teo, unless Teo agent is an idiot
Is Max's agent an idiot?

Max put up 5.9 WAR and Teo only 2.8 WAR so in that sense you could say Teo is being far more demanding.

I'm saying is I don't believe they are going to take $16 mil to the arbitrator, they are going to negotiate it. If his agent won't negotiate then he is an idiot

I agree but Fried is going to trial asking $15M. Braves might be the idiots in that case.

Why is passan reporting they are going to a hearing? I don't see where they be any closer than teo and the mariners which isn't really that close. Arbitration hearings are an odd system, doubt anybody really wants to go there. Don't think many cases do. His last year's case there was hardly any difference in the numbers, wasn't much risk taking it to arbitration.

You're probably going to point out something like the relative ratio between Max's case last season and teo this year is similar

Yeah they say that going to trial isn't pleasant because teams are there to point out a players shortcomings and why he doesn't deserve the higher number. But what is weird to me is that why would player be in the room. You would think the written or oral arguments could be submitted separately and confidentially to avoid all that.
