Mancini to the Cubs. He sucked ass with the Asstros so that one doesn't bother me much.
Sigh of relief that he didn't sign here.

Max put up 5.9 WAR and Teo only 2.8 WAR so in that sense you could say Teo is being far more demanding.
FanGraphs and Steamer project Teoscar Hernandez with 2023 WAR of 2.3 and 2.1 in 143 games:

As a point of reference, FanGraphs and Steamer project J.P. Crawford with 2023 WAR of 3.0 in 143 games:

The current Roster Resource lineup for the 2023 Mariners with FanGraphs and Steamer WAR projections (and games):

CF Julio Rodriguez 5.6, 5.9 (149)
1B Ty France 3.2, 3.3 (149)
3B Eugenio Suarez 2.3, 2.4 (144)
RF Teoscar Hernandez 2.3, 2.1 (143)
2B Kolten Wong 2.4, 2.4 (120)
C Cal Raleigh 3.2, 3.2 (118/112)
SS J.P. Crawford 3.0, 3.0 (143)
DH AJ Pollock 0.8, 0.6 (100)
LF Jarred Kelenic 1.4, 1.1 (109)

We have the resources to pick up a decent left handed reliever. If we don't I have a bad feeling it's going to bite us in the ass in match up situations. We have kind of been dodging a bullet imo. Hey! Maybe JK can convert and have some value and get out of Darren and my doghouse.

Should the Mariners offer a minor league contract to 28-year-old free agent Edwin Rios, a lefthand-hitting corner infielder with power?

https://www.fangraphs.com/players/edwin ... tion=1B/3B

https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... ed01.shtml

Would Rios accept a minor league contract with the Mariners?

Rios, who has a career wRC+ of 112 in 112 games, posted a wRC+ of 120 in 27 games last year. FanGraphs and Steamer each project Rios at a 2023 wRC+ of 95 with 0.2 and 0.1 WAR in 60 games. FanGraphs projects Rios to maintain his career strikeout rate of about 32 percent.

Rios reportedly is a defensive liability but could provide insurance down at Tacoma as a potential complement to righthand-hitting Ty France and Eugenio Suarez at the corners.
From Wednesday's chat with MLB Trade Rumors columnist Anthony Franco:

With Seattle still needing a corner infielder, who right now would be a good option?

Left-handed bat would probably be ideal. Think they'd be an interesting to roll the dice on Edwin Rios
6:16 Could see the roster fit with Joey Wendle as a multi-positional infielder who guards against some Suarez regression, but the Miguel Rojas trade probably makes it less likely Miami deals Wendle
