How is this team winning after trading away their 3rd best hitter (Nola) and #2 starting pitcher? Really annoying. :x
They started winning when they took the black holes of Mallex, Dee and Long out of the lineup on an everyday basis as we said they should.

Can't have that much of your lineup be impotent and win.
Lopes and Vogie too. At least with those two and Long they had to see what they had. Maalox and especially Gordon never should have been in the starting lineup.
Yeah, thats all I'm saying too. Give your guys a shot that need one.

But Gordon and Smiths goose was cooked, they had no business cluttering things.

I haven't been following the games that closely so I don't all the new guys that have been playing instead of Mallex, etc but I doubt they have been adding much to the offense.
OPS

France .833
Moore .896
Marm .740
Haggerty .715

Mallex .348

Compared to Mallex those guys are Murderer Row.
We can add Dee to the list of guys who had no business being here that they should have added another ~.200 cumulative OPS over half of a season.

It was a big blunder not playing to win from the beginning in my opinion.

I think there were people complaining about just that here over the offseason. It was really annoying. But probably right.

Marm has actually been producing with the bat lately, Odom doesn't really count because he's the backup, and Ervin has played all of two games. Ervin and Torrens need to put a little more time out there before we see if they're an improvement or not.
These guys (Sibellius in this case) will try and attack anything I have to say because they don't like how I say it.

That's why I appreciate the long memory of this forums archive. Easy to search keywords.

MLB drafts are a crapshoot. Basically, none of the last 7 overall #1 picks have even done anything in the Bigs. It's not like the NBA/NFL where you get studs at #1.

2019: Adley Rutschman, C, Orioles
2018: Casey Mize, RHP, Tigers
2017: Royce Lewis, SS, Twins
2016: Mickey Moniak, OF, Phillies
2015: Dansby Swanson, SS, D-backs
2014: Brady Aiken, LHP, Astros
2013: Mark Appel, RHP, Astros

That's what I keep telling everyone, but everyone wants to believe so badly that a high draft choice equals instant all-star and winning team, and that's not a realistic expectation.

Looks like Swanson is finally playing at a high level in his fifth year. Good pick, but far from instant success.
