Does anybody have examples of 34+ year old players coming off down years that did better after?
Enough guys play the game, and you can expect a few. Here’s a list of non-Mariners who had their best seasons after age 35. Maybe not exactly what you’re after, but still somewhat relevant.

Post script: I just read the entire list and saw that Edgar Martinez made it. His best years were from age 35 to 41.

I'm not sure any of the B-list celebrities we signed will be beast like Edgar (or anyone else on that list). And the track record for guys 35+ having banner years is not great. Statistically we are more likely to get a Justin Upton than we are an Edgar Martinez out of LaStella which is why so many of us are pissed off at management for sitting back while teams grab up the real talent leaving Jerry to dumpster dive. But hey, sometimes it works out. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

And then get killed within a few hours by the preditor it didn't see coming. Speaking of, last year I saw a Fox on a neighbors lawn that had a squirrel in its mouth. I was driving and slowed down and it looked at me dead in the eye like he was saying, go ahead just try to take my breakfast. Still pissed I wasn't able to take a pic before it ran off....

So you are telling us that there is still hope for JK?

By the way, there are no old, dumb squirrels in Massachusetts.

My theory for why squirrels dart out in front of your car and then (usually successfully) dart out of the way again at the last minute is that they are addicted to endorphins.

I suppose by logical extrapolation, that makes squirrels junkies, and me their pusher. Especially when I jerk the car into their path.
