These playoffs have really driven home what a load of drivel we've been fed the past 3-4 years about how great this pitching staff is, and in particular the two darlings Kirby and Gilbert, who have been above average but nothing close to deserving all the accolades thrown at them by the local press. Just looking at their road splits over the years tells the story. Bryan Woo is the closest thing to an ace the Mariners have had since Felix and the rest of them are completely unreliable.
I agree - am ready to move on from Kirby and Gilbert. I will say though that this has been a really down year for them - had Dip gone in at the deadline the last year or two they might have been better. However this offseason they are serving up so many meat pitches its absurd. I'm surprised Dan went with Kirby instead of Castillo. If he starts it again tomorrow I want to see Dan go out to the mound like Lou and just lose it on him and be like WTF ARE DOING!!!! lol...

If runners start to get on or a homer ya get the pen going. Woo or Castillo.

That's true. I was actually thinking that about YeOldSavage, that the difference between his great statline today and one he'd have nightmares for life was if those balls slipped through the infield, or if the couple warning track shots had gotten out.
The Mariners were making enough contact to potentially win, but didn't have the luck.
Because.... That's baseball!
We always complain about them swinging away, all the strikeouts, then they make contact three times and it results in six outs! Twice with the bases juiced. I told my son that how in the Hell is THIS the time we don't hit a warning track fly ball by launch angle swinging from our asses? Seemed like bad luck more than anything else.
