Based on his prospect writeup in Baseball America and his current numbers, Bonemer looks like a decent but not great prospect to me. Barring a complete collapse in his numbers, he'll make the major leagues at some point, but it's hard to see him staying there.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 11:58 pmWould you guys trade Hancock to the White Sox for Caleb Bonemer and Tanner McDougal?
Bonemer is a top 20 prospect in the game and the top pure 3B prospect. He has a .910 OPS across A+ and AA this year with 24 homers.
McDougal's fastball can touch 101. Currently a starter, command and lack of secondary pitches past his slider could move him to the bullpen where could be elite. He's currently a starter in AAA with a 3.13 ERA.

Re: Official MLB Trade Deadline Thread (Rumors and Ideas Welcome)
If I'm Preller, I'm asking for either Fried which won't happen or Schlittler. Why would they trade any what got them to where their at in the first place. I'd say that has a 99.99% chance of not happening. Preller is smart to ask for one of the 2. Seattle can counter with unfortunately a Hancock + 1-2 top 100 prospects. Again Jerry was a hair from acquiring Duran last year. I give him the same chance this year, if he wants it. No one can top what Seattle can offer. No way Pittsburgh is gonna give away their best player either. As far as I'm concerned he's Seattle's if Jerry wants him.

Who is Preller trading in this scenario? Is there any context at all for this comment, or is it just a random thought that crossed your mind?HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2026 5:31 amIf I'm Preller, I'm asking for either Fried which won't happen or Schlittler. I'd be selling off our pitchers for bats like it was going out of style.
Sign/draft pitching, trade/draft for bats. It's just what they have to do because no actual bats are going to come here willingly. You're going to get the Josh Naylor's to sign here.

Naylor played his cards right in the offseason, talking up how much he liked being here. I'm sure that played a part in his 5-year deal, setting him up for life.

Home and Away ERA for their career.
Only guy that looks worth holding onto is Logan Gilbert from what I can see.
I'd still hold onto Woo to see if he could work things out personally.
But Kirby, Miller, Hancock... I'd be all ears.

Re: Official MLB Trade Deadline Thread (Rumors and Ideas Welcome)
Definitely played his cards right. Especially when we saw what Ryan Ohearn signed for (2yr/$29M).
O'Hearn had an .803 OPS in 2025.
Naylor had an .813 OPS in 2025 and got 5yrs/$92.5M
But Naylor's shoes and belts are bedazzled so Dave Cameron loved him...

Re: Official MLB Trade Deadline Thread (Rumors and Ideas Welcome)
I see O'Hearn's got a nice .807 OPS going for the Pirates this season. Only has an 0.6 WAR as he gets totally skunked on defensive metrics which for a first baseman is totally overrated. That's the sort of thing that made guys like Fred McGriff and Dick Allen look bad.
