this year's team entering the season much better than last year's.

The BP looks like they were honest about the Brash timeline he has already thrown.

The rotation is about the same it looks like we will need Hancock or whoever for just a few starts.

The top 4 OF Julio, Randy, Raley, and Robles > Julio, Raley, Haniger, Canzone

Bliss > broken Polanco

Fixed Polanco > Rojas

Odd year Garver > Even year Garver.

The team will probably win the West if Julio realizes he is one of the top 5 or so players in the game: Judge, Ohtani, Witt Jr, Acuna, Jordan, Trout if healthy, and J-Rod.

JRod is a guy I could see going (.300/.400/.500) All + with 40/40 and (100/100) runs/RBI. With the position D, Base running, and a OPS+ north of 160? that is a 10 WAR player +/-

If we could double down on potential MVPs? What if Julio has competition from the guy who hits in front of him for MVP in Victor Robles? In 2004 Ichiro played in 161 games and had 762 PAs 36/47 SB, 8HR, 5 triples, and 24 doubles with a 130 OPS+ and 9.2 BWAR. Ichiro was a good base runner, Victor is better. I'd say their range in the OF and arms are similar.

Pro rating Victor's 2024 to 762PA's in 2025 is shocking! :o
Stolen bases 87/90 = 97%
doubles = 58
HR = 12
OPS+ = 155
BWAR = 9+

The supporting cast is there
Garver ODD year Garver has been a 148 OPS+ guy the last 3.
Raley has been a 127 OPS+ guy the last 2 years
Cal turned in his 1st 100 RBI season backed by 34 HR last year.
Randy has been a 122 OPS+ career guy with a 20/20 speed / power combo

Less confident
JP has a 130 OPS+ 2 years ago but was also a OBP 1st guy that had creeped into slightly above average zone the last few years
Rowdy has hit 35 bombs
Polanco had been a 120 OPS+ guy the 3 years before Seattle
Solano has been OK 110 and 112 OPS+ the last 2 years
Moore He has been a 110 OPS+ the last 3 years

This a playoff team. We will win the West!

I wonder how much his relationship with Dan Wilson played into his decision to sign?
It seems like a home team discount and it frees the team to finally make a decision on Harry Ford, change of position or trade him?
At least this team finally wisely invested in a worthwhile position player, give them credit where credit is due
It will be interesting to see what happens with Ford
I was thinking the same thing. He had a good spring, and his trade value is going up. That said, haven't they been seeing how he will do in LF? Could he make that move? Randy and Raley won't be around forever, and Ford is projected to be a 20-20 guy.

Randy has two more years and Raley has four more. Harry likely doesn't have the bat to be a corner OFer. He should stick at catcher and be Cal's backup after Garver is gone or we trade him at the deadline for a real DH.

Also given he likely hasn't played in the OF since HS if then, it isn't a lock he would be an even average MLB OFer defensively.

I like Harry Ford and I'm hoping Dipoto, Hollander and co. all do, too. Not only does he have a lot of tools, he works hard and he's a good kid.

Sure, he's blocked for a regular C role, but you never know what can happen. We've seen Cal have to miss time before. I like maybe limiting Cal's starts behind the plate a bit more just to keep him healthier down the stretch. It's not like we've got Edgar DHing and he cant get some ABs there (nor is it like his bat is Juan Soto, either).

I say drop Cal to 110 starts behind the plate, give Ford 52. Plug Ford in for another 50 at DH, Cal another 20 at DH and the other 92 to some combo of Arozarena, Montes and Polanco (if the latter is back in '26, he might just be because I think he bounces back big time). And obviously this is for '26.

Come '27, you can repeat that and possibly up Ford to another 10 or so DH starts.

I like Ford as well - the only issue with it is having your backup or main catcher be your DH as you lose the DH if one has to take over. We don't want to see another ab from Castillo again. I think the extension unfortunately means Ford is now a prime trade candidate.

The problem with a Harry Ford trade right now is that the market for prospects seems to be kind of down. I mean, I'm sure they can get something for him, but I wouldn't expect an overwhelming return.

Yup - not today but come the trade deadline and his value will be up.

Yep, many more teams out of it. We are going to need a bat or two.
