Perhaps it's because we have a f****** third baseman with a 600 Ops and there's one on the trade block but has over a 900 OpsVogelbomb wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 9:00 pmWhy do we get such a hard on for making trades at the deadline? You've got relief talent, too, that you can dip into. Jackson Kowar, Sauryn Lao, Troy Taylor, Brandyn Garcia.
The one thing this team needs is a reliable No. 5 starter. That's what I'd be looking at.
Fuck, Idk why everyone around this fanbase is still looking at offense.
What position players are going to be traded??

Oswald Peraza 147 /.210/ .240./450 with a 26 ops+

On Sunday, Sportsnaut's Matt Johnson predicted that New York would acquire third baseman Ryan McMahon from the historically bad Colorado Rockies.
"Since we have Eugenio Suárez landing with the Mariners in our MLB trade deadline predictions, the New York Yankees have to pivot. They go to another third baseman who has been on their radar for over a year," wrote Johnson.
Re: What position players are going to be traded??
The Mariners go down this road ever single time they are in contention. They need hitters. Sure, the last 45 days the offense has been great but what was the offense like before that? It is July, the air is warm and the balls fly. What happens later in the season as it starts to turn cooler? The ball does not fly. Look at who is in contention for the playoffs. Detroit it will be Herculean to hit one out there in October. NY and Boston also become less home run friendly in the fall. We rely so much on the long ball and that is why we fail coming down the stretch. We need high average hitters that can get on base, knock people in, and maybe take one deep occasionally.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 9:17 pmMaybe it's because they don't have the best offense in the game over the last 45 days? MAybe they all need to improve their weak ass offenses?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 9:15 pm
Yeah, don't improve your offense while other teams around you make moves to get better.
Great strategy. Has worked out so well for us in the past.
And this isn't years past. This is a different team. Why do we have to envoke the past? It means jack shit to this 2025 club.
We need a No. 5 so we're not giving away a game every 5 days.

It might be because if you want to win a championship, you have to seize it as opposed to meekly pawing at it or hoping that Amazon will drop one off at your doorstep. We need a better third baseman and there's a much better one available, and we need better relief pitchers and there are good ones available.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 9:00 pmWhy do we get such a hard on for making trades at the deadline? What was Geno's Ops when he was in seattle.

I think it's safe to say that Geno's numbers will go down in Seattle compared to Arizona. So the question is, would he be worth it?
I was under the impression that left handed batters fare better in our ballpark that right handed batters.
Re: What position players are going to be traded??
Exactly. So many M's fans on Twitter or our Seattle sportstalk radio hosts talking about Geno like he was God's Gift to Seattle. Dude sucked when he was here.
And I'm so sick and tired having of the pessimistic thinking that guys are going to fall off so drastically that we need these great reinforcements who are immune to falling off.
I already pointed out that we have some options in the pipeline not to mention Victor Robles come back. There's Locklear, Ford, Montes and Arroyo who are all knocking on the door or walking up the driveway at least

Sometimes the best move is the one you don't make. I'd be curious how many people are calling on Cruz or Acuna. You take calls on everybody.

What sage advice Cal had for Kirby.
3 straight hits scoring runs and goes to 3-0 immediately. Wtf
