People are saying he's a high leverage Elite reliever just like rash and munoz. If Brash and Munoz had an era of over four and a half would we be calling them Elite

The big difference is that we got all those guys for nothing off the scrap Heap not giving up a first round pick for him. You guys know that I'm not a big Ford fan but this seems like a pretty major overpay. Seems we could have got a better reliever for him but who knows

But seriously, I agree, this does feel like an overpay. But I do know that flame throwing lefties are not cheap. I just would have never thought THIS expensive.

I do think Ferrer was on a shitty ass Nats team and that his ERA not should, but will come down.

This is a buddy of mine that I highly respect. He basically called it yesterday. Ferrer had a very good FIP the past two seasons. 2.71 and 3.03. Starting to feel a lot better about the trade.

I'm saying that when a team is pitching that bad collectively, it's not as much an issue with the players as it is with the organization.

Coaching, teamwork, moral... all shot.

Varitek for Slocumb Redux?

If Slocumb threw 100 from the left side, wasn't coming off a 5.17 ERA season, and wasn't a 6-year vet with no control.

4.48 is pretty close to 5.17. Everybody's getting excited about him but we also traded for Gregory Santos and Caleb Ferguson didn't we. He doesn't even have a k rate over 9 so that 100 mph must be pretty hittable

So you look at the road stats and the FIP as has been posted a few times about him.His last 2 years the ERA has been 4.15, the ERA+ has been 99, but the FIP is at 2.95. The stuff agrees with that 2.95.

There is also the train of thought that the M’s home park favors lefties and with a bit of M’s pitching lab factory pixie dust and home park cooking you could really develop a stud LHBP. Now go get Rogers.

I think there's reason for excitement. Our pitching development team has done wonders with less talent like Saucedo, Thornton, and Speier.

Munoz and Brash were relative unknowns, albeit with high stuff upside, but not household names when we acquired them. This feels like that type of player that we are getting.

And for the record, I'd trade Ford for Munoz in a heartbeat.
