Abrams would move to 2B. He isn't great at SS. Cole Young going back to the GNats.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 5:58 pmThe only problem is that JP will be our shortstop no matter what this year, so we might as well wait until after the season's over to visit this. Re: Rest of the off season poll
btw how could you forget us signed a 35 yo short side platoon bat that can't play defense? Next you are going to tell me you don't remember future Mariner HOFer AJ Pollock. lolbpj wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 5:58 pmI didn't even remember they picked that guy up.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 5:43 pmYeah like I said Raley is exactly what Polanco was after the 2024 season. Hollander indicated the the have a plan to have all four of Robles, Raley, Canzone and obviously Rob Ref on the OD roster.bpj wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 5:20 pm
I'd just do both. Dipoto doesnt like Arraez types, so it's a moot point anyways, I get that.
I like Arraez because he's a bounceback candidate that only costs cash and there aren't any power bats available. His bat just fits our lineup imo.
And Abrams seems like a good 2B/SS option.
The real problem I see with Arraez is he'd push either Raley or Robles off the team, probably Raley. Which would be a shame if mashing Raley was ever actually going to show back up.
Yep Arraez would need to DH quite a bit so that would be a problem.
So he already pushes either Robles or Raley out doesnt he?
Arozarena, Julio, Robles/Refsnyder/Raley/Canzone...
How many outfielders do you need?
I guess you can call Raley a backup 1B, but he hits lefty like Naylor so it doesn't really fit their strategy..
And you can plop Canzone at DH I guess.
I still don't know why they signed Refsnyder...

But how would Abrams feel about that? That's the hurdle that would have to be cleared before such a trade can be made.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 6:58 pmAbrams would move to 2B. Clearly you have forgotten one big "fact" that Jerry hasn't. Namely, that "Good" costs money...D-train wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 6:39 pmIf they want to use Cal at DH then one of the those guys will have to be on the bench obviously.
It is total Frankenstein roster construction and if they would have just got one good right fielder they could have had another utility in Fielder but now they only have room for one. It's just idiotic

The other deal with Louis Arraez is I don't think he fits T-Mobile, it would suppress his offense even further with how it takes away doubles
Re: Rest of the off season poll
That's definitely a possibility. San Diego sure hasn't been kind to him.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 7:52 pmThe other deal with Louis Arraez is I don't think he fits T-Mobile, it would suppress his offense even further with how it takes away doubles
I'm not sure exactly how their park plays compared to Seattle, but the Mariners need hits and baserunners, something he's been pretty good at, even in SD.
But with Refsnyders inexplicable presence, and calling Canzone a DH, Luis wouldn't fit here anyways.
Re: Rest of the off season poll
He isn't a good shortstop is part of it. But mostly it's my spidey sense telling me he's bad news. I think there's a reason we haven't heard many trade rumors on him, even when it's clear the Nationals are selling.

yeah, he's considered "a work in progress ", but at this point he's ranked as the worst SS?

Young isn't still a prospect is he?
Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller put together a blockbuster trade package that would send prospects Cole Young and Ryan Sloan to the Washington Nationals in exchange for All-Star shortstop CJ Abrams

No it isn't he's under team control for 3 years he has to do whatever the f*** they want him to doDavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 7:40 pmBut how would Abrams feel about that?
