The Yankees would sign Hitler but would make him shave that damn mustache.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 9:55 amyeah Luhnow has been criticized for that, he is the most totally numbers oriented GM out there, he would sign Hitler without hesitation if his numbers looked good, nothing else matters to him. Interesting about Taubman, for some reason i was envisioning a "baseball guy", having issues with female writers. Ludnow isn't having anybody like that around him, so it as a nerd thing. that makes sense, without social graces. I can see him trying to explain it to Luhnow, think it would sound real, well...she started it.
thinking back on the Hawks and Frank, they bungled that pretty good, the general DV issue. Remember Schneider made a comment in regards to why the decided to draft him with the baggage. And he alluded to what a great edge rusher he is. Well yeah, he beats up women, but just look at him on the edge! But Schneider is one heck of a great GM. He has the ability to run a football team but his skills go beyond that. Its like political skills, he is a glad hander, at least he sure comes off as one. Couldn't imagine him ever getting into a public spat. All the player issues and all that, and never a negative word out of him. The RW contract, some viewed that as confrontational. I doubt Schneider ever quite smiling, as he happily took RW to the cleaners, that contract was a fantastic bit of negotiations. Maybe taking to the cleaners is not accurate, But RW sure backed down from all the extras he wanted. Wilson had put himself in position to push qb contracts into a new frontier, but he just totally tossed it out the window, took a very standard contract from JS and signed it. That was a heck of a good deal for the Hawks

He was told he was getting suspended and he chose not to appeal it....beyond that we don't know the evidence the MLB had, we do know from his own mouth that he said he had cctv evidence exonerating himself and is still seemingly unable to produce this.Moe Gibbs wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:18 pmIf the MLB has ANY sort of proof [like photos of the injuries and a doctor's statement] that he assaulted this woman, then throw the book at him.Dr Naysay wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 5:13 am
Ray Rice and Vazquez were caught on camera assaulting women and essentially ended up with the same legal ruling Osuna did. MLB interviewed the woman and decided the punishment was necessary, Osuna also said he had CCTV evidence which proved him innocent and yet he never actually produced any video footage which is decidedly odd. Essentially it was a plea deal with the MLB, don't contest a ban and we will make it just 75 games.
If not, then it just looks like the MLB is cowtowwing to our power drunk news media.

Oh boy!!! Forget the shovel we are going to need a deepwater drill to find the Astros soon.

We also know that in the courtroom they did not have enough [ANY evidence is usually enough] evidence to convict him, but this reporter must think she does have enough evidence to convict him.
Unless his CCTV has verifiable time and date stamping to go along with a verifiable time that the assault occurred...it's worthless in a courtroom isn't it...?

First off, Frank Clark didn't "beat women"...his girlfriend was flipping out in a hotel room and he tried to contain her. Never hit nor harmed her.
As for the Astros, he shouldn't have done what he did. But, what is being under reported now is the fact that this reporter would tweet about domestic violence every time he pitched, and no other time. It's been how long since he signed?
The GM handled it poorly, but sounds like the reporter did as well. Osuna was charged, and then the charges dropped. Why keep going after him? Over a year later?

You would think that everyone realizes by now that "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" means "I'm not sorry and it's your fault for being offended because I'm self-absorbed and can do no wrong".

Some people are just blithering idiots. A lot of them this year. Weinstein, Epstein, Lauer, NBA, NBC etc.
Re: Astros controversy
AJ Hinch actually saying what should have just been said from the start to put this to bed. That's the manager in the middle of a WS having to handle the PR disaster of his Asst GM/GM and PR department.
"I take everything that happens to heart ... No one should ever feel like when you come into our clubhouse that you're going to be uncomfortable or disrespected. I think we all need to be better across the board in the industry."

It's all over the news down here in Texas. Still it's somewhat surprising that rest of the country has not gotten wind of his entire dialogue.
