Haniger to the Phillies????
Re: Haniger to the Phillies????
Seager will absolutely be moved to 2B at some point, I have zero doubt. He always should have been, but, Ackley.
Beltre should have been re-signed at 3B, Seager to 2B, Ackley needing to prove he has a MLB bat sans the Johnny Damon arm where he belonged in CF.
When guys fail they fail, you dont just turn a CF into a 1B because you think he can hit for a high average. Will never work.
People mention Shed Long as a LF. Like come on, really?? Maybe for the Mariners, I'll give you that. But not for any team with some sense in their front office.

Re: Haniger to the Phillies????
He was the 3rd overall pick last June. So with him and Kelenic we would have a 3rd and a 6th overall as well as another top 5 overall when we draft next June.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 5:02 pmBohm is still a year or so away from mlb ready. Would be perfect timing actually.Ziskmagic wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 4:52 pmLove it. Bring up Fraley, plug in Bohm at 3rd, Seager can play some 2nd (If we can't trade him), and hopefully we can move Dee if his health isn't an issue. Stash Maalox and Healy in AAA if we can't move or dump them.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 4:11 pmThey are desperate and we need to just go full rebuild at this point. No way in hell our rotation will be ready to compete for a title in 2021.
Haniger for the Phillies #1 Prospect for 22 yo 3B Alec Bohm currently hitting .340/.938 this season. Also throw in former Mariner prospect Enyel De Los Santos who is their current #6.
Thoughts?
Lots of ifs, but I'm fully behind moving Haniger for a #1 3rd baseman prospect. I fear we might need to sweeten the pot unless the Phillies are completely over Bohm as they were Crawford.

I went to the gym at 6am this morning. Think I will need to be a lot healthier in order to live long enough to see this team win it all.

100%
But could we ask for Bohm and their #5 vs #6?
Reasons teams tend to discount lower level prospects like we did with #6.
#5 just has higher upside IMO.

De Los Santos
currently playing for their team in a playoff hunt.

Saw him and would prefer him and think we could pull it off if Mitch wasn't hitting .226 at the moment.Hanjag wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 8:32 pm100%

I don't see it with Seager at 2B. In order to move him off 3B, you need someone to take his place. Mariners don't have a long term fill in for him ready for at least 2 years. Healy I don't see as long term part of the Mariners whether at 1B or at 3B. Long has a better chance at sticking with the M's, and his position is 2B. I know he's played some 3B, but why move Seager who is a better defender off of 3B for Shed Long. Mariners won't be able to trade Seager because the clause in his contract activates a 15 million dollar guarantee for 2022 with a trade. I see him playing for the Mariners until his contract is up.bpj wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 5:38 pmSeager will absolutely be moved to 2B at some point, I have zero doubt. Only way I see it happening is if White proves to be ready for MLB before 2022 (questionable right now) and Healy develops into a regular .275-.280 hitter. Otherwise I'll take Seagers defense at 3B with the similar .225-.250 hitting and 25-30 HR. Healy might end up at 1B anyway if White doesn't figure out his bat enough to play 1B for the Mariners.
I'm not saying that Seager can't and shouldn't play 2B, but I just don't see how it happens for the M's.

Spencer Howard
Spencer Haywood
Coincidence? I think not.
Haywood was part of the championship team of 1978-79 Seattle Super Sonics.
Probably best stat season in Sonic history 29.2PPG 12.9 rebounds 2.5 Assists 1972 Sonics.
Hey, hey you go to-Ward the Hay Wood and get closer to a championship.
We must acquire Spencer Howard at all costs. Howard is the key I tell you. The key!

Re: Haniger to the Phillies????
There have been better 3B on the market. I'm just hoping Seager establishes any trade value because in almost every situation we're better off without him, given that contract.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 8:49 pmI don't see it with Seager at 2B. Re: Haniger to the Phillies????
His contract isn't tradeable. Mariners would have to eat more in the contract then they would pay by letting him play it out since a trade makes the final year 15 million guaranteed. No team is going to take on that salary for Seager. Get used to it. He is the Mariners 3B until his contract is up. I don't think M's will spend on a FA 3B before then.bpj wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 11:46 pmThere have been better 3B on the market. Re: Haniger to the Phillies????
Should've sold high on him during the offseason. Might've got 3 top prospects. They should've did a full rebuild instead of this partial.
