To me, one of the greatest films ever made, "Intolerance."
Just one opinion, but it is the worst thing of all.

I think comments like these FB posts are ridiculous. Period. But a relatively few people saying ridiculous things does not make a "party". I have talked with several Democrats in the last 36 hours, and none of them feel this way. I'd say the stronger narrative is that the President #1 would have preferred to not reveal his infection and #2 strongly preferred not to go to Walter Reed Hospital. (That is, I am hearing exactly the opposite of saying that this is fake or con job.) We all know that Trump has often stated that we can carry on as normal (i.e., not social distance and not wear masks) and that the effects are not that serious. He's just one person obviously (so per se his diagnosis and condition do not disprove his previous arguments) but I bet that he is very unhappy that this does not look good (in addition to being concerned about his own health, that of his wife, and the others in his circle).D-train wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:30 amThe Hypocratic party of intolerance.maoling wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:14 amWow, I can scarcely believe some of the wicked paranoid viciousness that some of my FB "friends" on the left are spewing today:

I trust and hope he is getting the best treatment in the world. Nothing so far about hydroxychloroquine, although Dr. Stella Immanuel is not happy about that!

People have the right to be intolerant of the intolerant.
I don't believe in karma, but his diagnosis is the result of prolonged stupidity. Trump, and many Republican talking heads who were present at the recent Rose Garden ABC meeting, reap what they sowed after months of treating Covid like a joke in the public eye.
I do not wish harm on him, but in no way does he get my sympathy or immunity from my criticism after being an idiot.

When he walks out like nothing happened and says it's time to open the country because we have the medicines to deal with this-
It will prove everything he's said.
We were told 15 days to slow the spread. The assumption was that everybody will get it. That was never a debate.
However, when our president is the one proving they work, he will come out of this smelling like roses. And, being right.
Masks don't work. People will get the virus. Just like we do colds and flu, and they'll be just fine like we're already seeing with the 99.8% survival rate.

He isn't intolerant he didn't treat it like a joke. He banned travel from China and the left called him a racist for it while they encouraged people to head down to China town to party.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 7:40 pmPeople have the right to be intolerant of the intolerant.

You make some good points, dt. And I think if we could turn back the clock to March 1 ... and know what we know NOW ... I would say this: Trump was right. WHO was wrong, and Fauci was wrong. Calling Trump a racist for the China travel "ban" was wrong. Encouraging partying in Chinatown was wrong. Encouraging going to the gym was wrong. But ...D-train wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 9:43 pmHe isn't intolerant he didn't treat it like a joke. The world didn't stop on March 1, and Trump didn't take advantage of what he had done to that point. There wasn't a "ban" on travel from China, it was restrictions, and lots of people still came in. The restrictions on travel from Europe were too late. And too loose. He gave in to his concern for the stock market. He didn't listen to the scientists who kept learning things after March 1. (Just because they were wrong about some things doesn't mean they were wrong about everything. The scientific community is constantly learning about contagion and aerosols and masks and everything else about this.) He didn't mobilize testing or contact testing fast enough.
Worst of all, to me, he broadcast his lack of concern and made it a partisan issue. It's under control, only the elderly get sick, it's just like the flu or a cold, it's getting better. He belittled people wearing masks. I think that if he had been as good from March 1 to May 1 as he had been before that, this while thing could have been behind us. We would have peaked around April 1 (as I recall that your model predicted) but Trump didn't do what needed to be done.
Re: OT Breaking Trump and Melania have Covid
Yes Gil. I agree that mistakes were made. I just don't think that anyone else would have done any better.
And his efforts to diminish the Panic were not selfish, they were in an attempt to chill the country out. He gained nothing from that and has been criticized intensely for it.
He has many flaws obviously but I know he loves the country and hopes for the best for all of its citizens.

Re: OT Breaking Trump and Melania have Covid
Trump didn't stop on March 1st either, he has never quit fighting this virus...He has never stoped doing his joband he's not been perfect, but a hell of lot better than anything Obama or Biden did or could have done. He has more than one concern, health, law and order, community safety, security, prosperity, peace... all vital parts of the overall picture... as a businessman, he understands the disaster of shutting down a small business that someone worked his whole life to build, economic health is just as important as physical health, it's easy to criticize, but maybe you ought to take the log beam out of your eye before you bring up the speck in Trump's eye. Trump organized the military, the government, and the private sector in an unparralled manner to respond to this virus, he has left no stone unturned. Who is responsible for the burning of city buildings and apartments, for the looting of markets and stores, for the ambushing and injuring of law enforcement? Who's responsible for the framing of General Flynn, for the millions spent on a Russia Hoax, for corruption in the Ukraine, for a false impeachment? BYW, he has never belittled anyone wearing masks, he never made it a partisan issue, but brought in scientists and physicians from both sides of the aisle and gave them public platforms. And he's no racist, homophobic, or any other of the slanders and smears levelled at him by an ugly partisan press stoking hatred and division... Glad for your honesty concerning the World Health Organization... and some declarations by Fauci...I wish more on the left would convey at least some honesty...gil wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 10:46 pmYou make some good points, dt. Jesus Christ AT... I hear North Korea is looking for some state new news anchors after beheading their last few. You might just be right for the job. Pretending that nobody would have done a better job than Trump is an absolute joke.
"He never belittled anyone wearing a mask..." See this is how I know you live on a different planet. I take it you don't watch his rallies or you maybe missed the last debate?
I've never understood this thing about China Town either... you guys realize the people who live there don't actually live in China right? It's an enclave of San Fransisco... not Wuhan. Just because some people who live there happen to live in China Town happen to be Chinese doesn't mean Covid magically sprouts from their assholes 6,500 miles away from where it started.
Ah right, Flynn did nothing wrong... Republicans are targeted... blah blah blah... wah wah wah... 215 indictments in the Trump Administration compared to 0 in the Obama administration... again, what planet do you have to be living on to look at those numbers and think you're on the right side of this? The only reason Mueller didn't indict Trump is because he wasn't sure you could do that to a "sitting president." I mean fuck... Republicans only led 10 investigations into Benghazi, forced Hillary Clinton to testify for 11 hours, and found her/Democrats guilty of absolutely nothing.
All I see on the stupid political forum is you guys saying over and over that the first domino has fallen that's going to expose the corrupt democrats for what they are. Well... I'm waiting, you guys have only saying this shit for years... WHERE IS IT??
The last 3 Democrat administrations have had 3 total criminal indictments spanning over 20 years... the last 3 Republican administrations have led to 317 total criminal indictments and more are probably on the way. I mean use your damn eyes.
