Just about 30 minutes to the Preakness. I landed on War of Will as my top choice. Will be rooting for Anothertwistoffate who is trained by Emerald Downs trainer Blaine Wright for Vancouver's Peter Redekop. Blaine was our assistant trainer before we moved back east and really has a puncher's chance I think. Got a very nice speedy horse but i think the outside post will hurt him. However you bet or watch, good luck!

Why did Maximum Security and Country House not compete in this race?

Country House came down with a fever after the Derby. Maximum Security owners are really just whining about the Derby DQ. Could make the Belmont very interesting if all 3 run. Grudge match.

Another reason Maximum Security did not run was the totally bogus 15 day suspension of Saez by the stewards. How is he supposed to control a spooked horse when the horse only takes 2 bad strides? One of the things i have thought is that Gaffilone should have gone up the rail as opposed to the outside in the Derby. That being said I did have him in the Preakness.

I hope Country House is able to run in the Belmont

I was a little surprised at the suspension of Saez but MS was not going to run in the Preakness under any circumstance. Running back in two weeks is a tall order and they had little to gain and a lot to lose especially if he ran poorly. From a straight conditioning standpoint MS can regroup, recover, and be ready for the summer 3yo races the Haskell at Monmouth and Travers at Saratoga.

And I think MS took a lot more than 2 bad strides. I saw a frame by frame review of the overhead and he went from the 1 path to to the 7 path and various stops in between. As many have said if this was a Wednesday afternoon race he gets taken down every time. I also think Saez did everything possible to straighten his horse, but the fact remains he took away many competitor's chances throughout the turn regardless of fault.
