Here is Ball park factors. T Mobile is below average but not bottom 10

http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor/_/year/2019
Yankee Stadium:

28th in 2019
6th in 2018

🤔

Seems like a totally legit stat.

Seattle was:

28th in 2018
21st in 2019

The Yankees (any team) having a good or bad pitching staff can make park factors skewed imo.

Too many adjustments they would have to factor in to make it accurate.

They would have to measure how well hitters hit there, but then also factor in how much better/worse a pitching staff is than average and somehow balance it to make it accurate.

They can attempt all they want, but 2018/2019 Yankee Stadium says hi 🤷‍♂️

Weird about Yankee stadium but it is a totally objective stat. Compares everyone's stats at each stadium relative to other stadiums so nothing subjective about it. Must have just been a fluke in 2019.

The subjectivity being that a park factor would look different in Yankee Stadium if the opponents were facing Mariners pitching instead of Yankees pitching.

Completely dependent on the pitching staff imo.

I don't have time to read this but I would think they have to neutralize pitching staffs somehow.

The only part I see calculating the pitching portion is the attached excerpt.

Runs Scored and Runs Allowed at Home and Away are the factors used..

Not much in terms of precision from what I can see.

Arenado is a guy who has been a product of his home park in my opinion.

The guy hits. 200 OPS higher at home than on the road for his career.

In 2020 he had an OPS in road games of .636

By comparison, Mallex Smiths 2019 he had a .635 OPS.

That's a risky acquisition at $150M over 6 years imo.

The Cardinals are a pretty smart organization, maybe they see the problem.

My guess is Arenado becomes a big disappointment for them. They've got themselves a $150M player that is a cumulative .800 OPS guy going forward imo. There aren't many of those. In a bad way.

Career and 2020 OPS splits below:
Good thread for those that think Story/Castellanos are going to be the same player once they leave Colorado and Cincinnati.

Arenado finished 2021 with an .806 OPS...

Cardinals gave up a young pitcher, one top-10 prospect and 2 nobodies.

$50 million sent over by the Rockies making his contract worth around $25 million a year. He has opt-out options in 2021 and 2022 so it's a bit risky...

But man, this is what great organizations do to quickly make themselves better.

Arenado is going to hit for a .900+ OPS and play GG caliber D.

I really hope some day it could actually be fun to be a Mariners fan... imagine you're a Cardinals fan and you hear Nolan Arenado is coming to town?

I'd take the under on that bet.
