cho·lo
/ˈCHōlō/
Learn to pronounce
nounDEROGATORY
(in some parts of Latin America) a man of indigenous or partly indigenous ancestry.
INFORMAL•US
a young man belonging to a Mexican-American urban subculture associated with street gangs.
How is that derogatory?

I am so thrilled to live my life in call-out culture.
I just posted it because I didn't know what it meant and figured other might not either.

I suppose Vogelbach has now become untouchable, ...... though I'd still be in favor of trading him Just don't give him a "Seager contract".
I like the idea of keeping players but have to be realistic on their shelf life, right.

Offering Felix, Ichiro, Cano, even Seager the long contracts at their age is hopefully a thing of the past.

Get their productive years by locking them up for an extra 2 to 3 years past their arb years when they're 2 to 3 years from free agency. Can't wait until they're a year from free agency or you've already lost your leverage and their trade value.

Vogey is only 26. I would lock him up through age 30 at a contract similar to your Santana suggestion.

It will never be a thing of the past because of where we play. You have to overpay because of this being further away than anywhere else. And it is not warm and the night life is not exciting. The only positives that attract are that you are close to Nike and all of the tech....oh and no state income tax. We had to overpay to keep Felix...to keep Seager...to get Cano. The only way we keep being good is to recruit early and overpay. You get those young free agents that we just signed and then you develop the shyte out of them. Then you sign them to extensions and hope it does not go tits up.

I really think the remoteness factor is way overblown. From my front door to a NYC hotel is about a 8 hour trip. From my front door to a hotel in LA is about a 5.5 hour trip. Not a huge difference in time despite it being almost 3 times further. Also, the California teams all have the same issue.

Most baseball players are married, especially in the FA age bracket so I think the night life is a minimal issue as well. Money is far and away #1 and the lack of sales tax really helps us there.

I wonder what the highest launch angle and height have been on a home run since they started tracking them. That one by Vogie was way the hell up there!

158 ft so he could have hit it over a 15-story building.
