I thought our luxury cap total was around 180 mil?
I know the 26 man and the 40 man rosters change frequently but it seems like there is a lot of money spent last year that will not be counted when it's all over and we trade a bunch of guys away at the deadline because it's absolutely sure we won't be buyers
Luis Castillo made 10 mil last year and is due 22.75 mil this year
Julio Rodriguez made 4 mil last year and is due 10 mil this year

Re: $20M To Spend
Hollander and Dipoto said they will likely exceed what was spent last year.
I'm not sure where Jude is getting that they have just $20 million to spend.
Dipshit and Co. said they know they've created holes and that they will fill them. There's no way they're anticipating worse options than what they had. I just don't buy it.
Re: $20M To Spend
Jerry said it is very likely they will exceed 2023 payroll. Why wouldn't he just say they will exceed 2023 payroll. The might exceed it but it will be by $5M tops. I think they have $25M to spend.

20 to 25 million? That's IT?!? These guys just don't want it very badly, do they?
Re: $20M To Spend
If $20 million is the definitive number, then they should look to trade Luis Castillo. Robbie Ray would be the ideal, but I'm assuming he's not tradeable until he's back on the field and has shown that his arm works.
And really, if this is going to be the way it is from now on, they should trade Julio early in his career. I have no interest in watching this guy waste his best years playing for a franchise that will never support him.

Now I wonder how Jerry keeps his job when he is throwing money around like that!D-train wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 11:46 pmAnd all the arb guys like France are getting raises.tehmc wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 11:34 pmPlayers are due raisesMesully11 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 11:22 pm

And the Red Sox get Tyler O’Neill for 2x pitchers worth less than Morales and Dollard…Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 10:00 amFangraphs says they're currently at $117 million. I say they go up to $150... so $33 million to spend.
Mariners trade Bryan Woo and Cade Marlowe to the Rays for SP Jeffrey Springs ($10.5M), OF Randy Arozarena ($7M), RP Jason Adam ($2.6M) and cash.
Mariners trade Emerson Hancock and Justin Topa to the Dbacks for 1B/DH Christian Walker ($12.2M)
Mariners trade Michael Morales, Taylor Dollard, Dylan Moore to the Cardinals for OF Tyler O'Neill ($5.4M)
1. JP Crawford SS
2. Randy Arozarena RF
3. Julio Rodriguez CF
4. Christian Walker DH
5. Cal Raleigh C
6. Ty France 1B
7. Luis Urias 3B
8. Tyler O'neill/Dom Canzone LF
9. Ryan Bliss/Josh Rojas 2B
Yet the M’s were reportedly interested in him and couldn’t pull a trigger to beat a shit haul… what the fuck are they doing?

Maybe they just didn't want him bad enough to give up better prospects.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 11:27 pmAnd the Red Sox get Tyler O’Neill for 2x pitchers worth less than Morales and Dollard…Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 10:00 amFangraphs says they're currently at $117 million. Re: $20M To Spend
Is there anyone on the FA market that will have a huge impact to this woeful lineup that can be had for $20M?
I don't see how this lineup will be better than last years.
They may only give up 3 to 4 runs a game, but this lineup will score 2 to 3.
Good enough for Abbott and Costello I guess.

Re: $20M To Spend
I'm almost willing to bet that they are trying to find creative ways to trade Robbie Ray. It would likely require sending cash and Woo or Miller. Otherwise the M's will be stuck with the guy for 3 years at a rate of around $25M per year.
I just would not be surprised that they trade him away at a fairly high cost. But this could free some additional dollars this year and more the following years.
