How many teams in mlb skip their 5th starter when they have a day off?
If the 5th starter is a minor league call up that isn't ready for the majors than i would think quite a few.
Show me examples. It seems you are asking for something that just simply isn’t standard practice. Also, they don’t look at Hancock as a minor leaguer that isn’t ready. They see him as their 6th starter, and only reason he want a regular is because they have others. He’s done what he needs to in the minors, they want to find out if he can adjust to the majors

As Imsaid he had a quality start against Cubs who have a tougher lineup. Doesn’t mean he pitches well tonight but he is learning
