Not surprised to see Blowers gone but sad he is - I liked listening to him. He seemed to be battling a variety of health issues sadly so again - not surprised to see him step away - probably felt like if he couldn't guarantee the whole year than he shouldn't do it.

We'll see how RRS and Buhner/Valle do - but really not looking forward to hearing Angie .... she really sucks. I'd rather they just leave Aaron alone and give him a dog beside him that they cut to every once in a while, than listen to Angie needing to fill every second of dead air cause she worries there shouldn't be a pause.....

I basically said the same thing on Twitter and was called misogynistic and sexist.
Of course - u can't say bad things about women in today's world....its a joke....U said the truth though!!!

Wasn't a fan of Blowers in the booth. I found him a little patronising. He had this annoying way of calling each play as if he had an all-encompasing knowledge of what just happened he knew it in advance. Worse than we do on Game Threads :D

That being said, the article says he has been doing the job for 17 years and hasn't commented on the reason for his departure. My bet is cost-cutting - but it seems a bit disloyal of ROOT to dispense with him in this somewhat brutal way.
Mike Blowers has health issues,... significant ones.
Indeed it seems so. Apparently his 2023 absence was due to bronchitis, mixed with a sinus infection and the flu. As he was ready to come back he had a fall, while running which resulted in a concussion and three stress fractures in his face. So with further issues last season as well he clearly has battles.

If he’s been there so long, he’s probably one of the higher paid employees and it would be interesting to find out if his contract expired and they’ve just chose not to renew it on the premise of cost saving alone.

I'm openminded about Angie on the broadcast. I think the main thing will be getting used to a female voice in that role. RRS has been pretty good and I'm looking forward to hearing more from him. Dave Valle is fine but boring and Jay Buhner sucks.

Can you switch the commentary to the radio through the tv provider? I have always preferred radio commentary on sport anyway going back to summer afternoons watching the cricket with Test Match Special on the medium wave transistor radio.

The app never seems to have the commentary synced to the pictures so you hear the call a fraction of a second before you see the Ms strikeout.
