You're saying they would have more high performing relievers than room for on the ML roster. Okay, that sounds like a good thing . Not being able to pass one through waivers would indicate they have a pretty good ML BP. I'd love it if they couldn't get their excess relievers through waivers

True, but if they lose guys that on any given year could be the best or 2nd best, or 3rd best BP performer on any given year it is not good for the team.

Look at Vargas, He throws 100+ and has nasty stuff. But, he has control issues just like Randy did before he talked to Nolan Ryan. After that chat, Randy became one of the most dominant pitchers in MLB history. Vargas is not that but if he figures something out> You are looking at another Munoz/Brash type.

I don't think a reliever we try to send down will be that popular. We shall see, I think it's more likely they choose free agency, refuse assignment. And the fact is it works both ways. The mariners have probably claimed more relievers off waivers than lost relievers to other teams.

So you're saying he's not an option? I am concerned with our relievers so far. Hope there's enough spit and polish to have a better than adequate relief core.
