I'd generally be excited about this sort of thing... but for what? Rowdy Tellez?
Has never hung more than .8 bWAR and he hit 35 homers that season.
This is the least jazzed I have ever been going into an M's season. At least when they're bad I hang onto a glimmer of hope that sometimes teams get lucky or that it will at least be fun to watch the young guys.
What on earth is exciting about this team? Nothing.
Haniger Released

Dude tore his UCL. Yeah, one bad contract. He 's a terrible GMCoeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:46 pmThe Robbie Ray trade was a toilet flusher. Jerry is a tardseattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 7:09 pm$15 million down the toilet.
This world is nuts.
Re: Haniger Released
Look, I'm by no means 100 percent fully behind Jerry on everything. I think Samad Taylor is better than Mastrobuoni. I think half the pen shouldn't be on the 40 (Snider, Saucedo, Vargas, Thornton) and don't know why Ms couldn't spend on just one arm to support Munoz in the back end (say Kenley Jansen). You can't always just throw pre-arb guys in the pen and hope for a good outcome.

Are you fucking daft? Or, are you just trying to play little brother contrarian to Donn B?Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 8:03 pmLook, I'm by no means 100 percent fully behind Jerry on everything. Snider was a 190 ERA+ guy and had clearly established he was one of the trusted set-up guys by years end.
In 2024 guys that pitched well out of the pen
#1 Snider 190 ERA+
#2 Munoz 172 ERA+
#3 JT Chargois 136 ERA+ (Traded for)
# 4 Tyson Miller 123 ERA+ (Traded away)
And you come along and say Snider is not worth a roster spot?
Can you act any GD dumber about shit you post?
There were guys that could have been studs:
Brash didn't pitch
Santos was injured and only pitched 7 innings
Yimi was a trade set-up guy but got injured
Re: Haniger Released
I am still kind of shocked they did this.
Re: Haniger Released
So am I. I can't believe all the people that thought we could trade him. With that and the Cal extension they are actually starting do things that make sense from a financial perspective.

Re: Haniger Released
With pitchers it's much more common as it's more about command. For a position player, these days once your bat speed falls off (especially once you reach 30) even a little bit it's pretty much over. Haniger is a great example of that and with Polanco we have to hope it was just injuries and not talent.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 3:44 amBut every year there are several that do between starters, BP and batsDavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 1:29 amThat's the thing about banking on "bounce-back" candidates, they're usually going to cost you a couple games in the standings before you realize it ain't happening.
