Mike Salvatore, INF, Florida State
Source: 4YR • Ht: 6-0 • Wt: 186 • B-T: R-R • Commitment/Drafted: Reds '15 (19)
A 19th-round pick of the Reds coming out of high school, Salvatore spent two years at Northwest Florida JC, before becoming Florida State’s starting shortstop in 2018. Salvatore is batting .323/.415/.526 with 31 extra-base hits. He is applauded for excellent, gamer-like makeup with contact skills. While he plays shortstop, scouts view him more as a second base or third base due to limited range. He should be a solid senior sign./i]

https://www.tallahassee.com/story/sport ... 319568001/Senior shortstop Mike Salvatore
Salvatore has helped himself more than any other player on FSU's roster this season with regard to draft stock.
He entered his senior season with minimal draft consideration after batting .244 with only 10 extra-base hits and 27 RBI in his first season at FSU in 2018.
He's hit .337 this season -- the second-best average on the team among starters -- and added some newfound power with seven homers, 48 RBI and a .543 slugging percentage, also second-best among the everyday starters.
"A year ago, I don't think there was a whole lot of talk about Mike Salvatore," Cahill said.
"No one went crazy about him because it's not a huge toolset like you're getting with Flowers or Mendoza, but it's significant that he's had the season that he's had. I do think he's helped himself."
Salvatore also stepped back into the shortstop role he held last year midway through this season and has proven to be an above-average defensive shortstop at this level.
Salvatore doesn't have the leverage of returning to school the three juniors have and that will affect his potential signing bonus, but he'll get a shot that was hardly guaranteed at this time last year.
"He can play a variety of positions in the infield and he's a nice solid defender," Cahill said.
"He's just this really steady senior that I think teams are going to be interested in getting into their system and just kind of seeing what happens."
Projection: Third day of draft (11th round or later)
JUNIOR (2018):
Started all 62 games at shortstop, hitting .244 with 58 hits, eight doubles, a triple and a home run…drew 28 walks and struck out just 20 times…hit his lone home run against Louisville (3/30), a grand slam that set a season-high for RBI in a game (four)…his triple came in the opener of the NCAA Tournament against Samford (6/1), scoring two FSU runs…joined Drew Mendoza and Cal Raleigh as the only players to start every game in 2018…scored a season-high three runs against Xavier (2/17)…had three hits in four different games, including twice against Georgia Tech and a 3-for-3 game against No. 4 NC State…had a team-high eight assists at North Carolina…played his summer ball for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod League.
PERSONAL:
Salvatore led Northwest Florida State College in 2017 in hits (53), runs (39) and stolen bases (12) while hitting .293…taken in the 19th Round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Ewing High in Ewing, N.J….majoring in social science…born December 27, 1996.

Judas priest, no kidding...Hasslecracked wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 9:23 pmSounds like Adcock has closer potential. 8 out of 9 picks being pitchers in a horribly regarded pitching class does not make me feel good about our picks though
Everyone else got that memo, meanwhile Dipotos sniping pitchers like it's hot and looking around with wide eyes wondering why everyone else passed on these guys...
