Sixth Year Still A Sticking Point In Talks Between Freddie Freeman, Braves
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/ ... raves.html

I'd give Freeman 6 years at $28 million/yr, plus a club option for a 7th year with a $2 million buyout, making it a 6 yr, $170 million contract.
Not so fast! JD has pinky promised France that he is the 1B. :)

Dipoto had only 2 players with club options that he needed to notify during the offseason. He couldn't have found the time to tell 10 year Mariner Seager?

Yeah, he knew he wasn't picking it up for probably years. Could have told him the last week of the season at least. Like I have said, he is Eddie Haskell.

That is correct. It's a regular negotiation and the team he signs with pays a fee to his NPB team that is a percentage of the contract value, I think 10% but not sure off the top of my head.
Has anybody heard us being potentially linked to Suzuki? He'd be a great addition.
If not the 24 year streak will end so the assumption is we will be given Nintendo still has a major stake in the team.
10% is a major stake?

from the winter meetings I guess, that is kind of interesting, the way I read that is they would want a japanese player on the roster but it wouldn't have to be Seiya. The way he puts things always seems kind of convoluted
"I think Seiya is a wonderful player," Dipoto said. "We've had a great opportunity to scout him. We've seen him both far and wide in video and we've seen him live. I will say, we're not going to choose to start the season without a Japanese player. There's always opportunities."

Wow, there it is. Great find. Can't believe I missed it. I guess 10% is enough to have their ear. No doubt that is why they brought Ichiro back for the dog and pony retirement tour.

So yet another box to check this off season. If its Suzuki then great. If its some lesser player to fill the quota, then back to the future.

don't see why it need to have anything to do with Nintendo, if they feel the need to cater Mariner fans in Japan. They would have to explain the value of that

Btw this is Classic Jersey Jerry speak and reminds me of what David Stern said when asked about Chris Hanson. "I am not unaware of him".

What does the double negative accomplish other than making you sound like some flowery speaking intellectual. Just speak normally say what you mean for God's sake. It's not difficult.
