M's draft #2013 - Seven (7) MLBers drafted, none play for M's. 3 of top 6 picks out of baseball. The top pick will be soon. Horrible draft

JR 1 2013 12 Peterson, D.J. 3B - .190 / .270 / .373 / .643 with AAA Charlotte (White Sox) in 2019
JR 2 2013 49 Wilson, Austin RF released by the M's, signed by St. Louis, July 4, 2017 Palm Beach Cardinals released RF Austin Wilson.
JR 3 2013 85 O'Neill, Tyler RF - we all know his story
JR 4 2013 117 Horstman, Ryan LHP - November 6, 2017 Arkansas Travelers released LHP Ryan Horstman.
JR 5 2013 147 Reinheimer, Jack SS - 2017 cups of coffee with AZ and 2018 with Mets. Now in Orioles AAA
JR 6 2013 177 Simpson, Corey RF - have not heard about him since spring of 2016
JR 7 2013 207 Olson, Tyler LHP now pitching for the Cleveland Indians
JR 8 2013 237 Smith, Tyler SS - played 10 games for M's in 2017.....July 8, 2018: Released by the Atlanta Braves.
JR 9 2013 267 Zokan, Jake LHP A puzzle - July 13, 2018 Arkansas Travelers released LHP Jake Zokan, didn't play any ball in 2017 yet 2013-2016 Zokan was a very solid, rising player in the M's system. I suspect it was an injury. He player last year and this in Indy ball.
JR 10 2013 297 Pagan, Emilio RHP current Tampa Bay pitcher
JR 11 2013 327 Littell, Zack RHP current Minnesota Twin pitcher
JR 12 2013 357 Seager, Justin 1B The Seager that couldn't
JR 13 2013 387 Fontaine, Lachlan 3B
JR 14 2013 417 Miller, Ian CF - AAA Rainiers, speedy, he deserves his first call-up
JR 15 2013 447 Campbell, Eddie LHP
JR 17 2013 507 Fry, Paul LHP - April 14, 2017: Traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Baltimore Orioles for international bonus slot money. He's a MLB reliever now.
OMG check out Austin Wilson's last season. Dude was 6'4" 250lbs and went 129 PAs without an extra base hit. Good for a .168 SLG% and a .401 OPS. :o And Jack Z drafted him in the second round just like he did with Gareth Morgan who have more K's than Nolan Ryan.

Theory:

In the draft Dipoto was trying to create tremendous depth behind his pitching- knowing he needs to hold on to his position player prospects- because, say, Logan Gilbert had become valuable enough to trade to fill a current void.

The guys Dipoto drafted are probably closer to MLB than Gilbert anyways.

In my opinion, Gilbert just became a valuable piece in the type of trade that Dipoto has actually created his own precedent in the Tank O'Neill for Marco Gonzales trade.

Gilbert would bring us another Haniger/Gonzales level player that may be blocked in their organization- as Gilbert may be, now, in ours.
How do you figure they are more MLB ready than Gilbert? He's already tearing it up in high A and should be in Arkansas by the end of the season. He has the highest ceiling of any of the pitchers in the M's system imo.

Gilbert the kid we drafted out of high school compared to a bunch of college juniors and seniors?

In my opinion that puts these new college arrivals, at worst ~the same arrival time as Gilbert.

And Gilbert can be traded now, with very high value. Or, keep and hold him for winning sustainability. I'm honestly fine with either course.

You must be confused. Gilbert played at Stetson. Maybe you are thinking Carlson? Carlson doesn't have much value having never pitched pro ball and coming off TJ surgery.

I know it's not, but I prefer to picture sexymarinerfan as being a woman like Jenny Finch.. It just feels more natural with the whole "sexy" thang you know..
Man you don't know how many times I've thought about changing it. I even tried going with BenDavis4ever. In fact that's the only reason Rick Rizzs and I are even friends to this day is because Ben Davis and I share the same name and we spent a night then a week hanging out with the wives down and friends down at Spring Training. Now everytime at Fanfest or wherever, he's like hey Ben!! He called me out at a game sitting next to Blowers when I was down on the concourse. So cool!!!
How about something cool like BenDavisSodoMojo and call yourself BDSM. You know that will pique the babes' interest. If ya know what I'm sayin.
Lmao!!! I LOVE "BDSM"!!!!! Does this mean I have to start ALL the way over again on my "Comment-counter?"

Do you think Dipoto drafts high profile picks teammates on purpose as to levee the signability of an exclusive high profile prospect?!

They picked 2 pitchers that had surgery. Their 59th overall pick had surgery in both hips and the 76th overall pick had bone spurs - hopefully they didn't miss anything on the medicals.
I think that qualifies for your "High risk- High reward" types you were banging the drum for. You sure you dont have a wire tapped into our War Room?
I was thinking the tools vs polish trade off, not medical risks, lol. Hopefully they are healthy.

I loved day 1 picks. 3 college big tall guys that all have 60 FB maybe a little more and then good control numbers, they all hold the caveats that all draft picks have. Health, development, etc.

Day 2, Not so much.
the likes
Ty Adcock Elon's closer. That's right SpaceX. 65 FB 55 slider and egh.
The others are mostly eh.

The 3rd baseman does have a Kyle Seager comp.
Scouts who like Shenton and think the guy they saw in the Cape is who he is see a little Kyle Seager in him, though his slow start may have turned some teams off. This might be an opportunity for a team to buy low on a college bat on Day 2 of the Draft.

The guy I am like ok wtf was that is the 1st non top 200 pick Tim Elliot  :?: :?:
UGA Career: Owns a 2-0 record, 4.67 ERA in 26 appearances including four starts for a total of 34.2 innings

Well, Everett should have some good pitching this coming year. Any chance that any of these guys go straight to WV?
We'll see shortly. Looks like the season starts in ten days, Friday, June 14th. Three games @ Tri-Cities, then four at Boise.
Home opener is Friday, June 21st vs.Salem-Keizer.

Saturday, June 22nd is the first BIG Promotion:

What a way to jinx the season.

I will probably go to at least 1 of these games.
