I'm guessing it has to do with the Mariners currently being 29th in team batting average and 25th in slugging percentage. 18th in OBP.

"At least they're still drawing walks"

Okay, so I guess our hitting coaches don't actually know anything about hitting.
I think the point is our players aren't that good and maybe they can't be "fixed".

Right, but I wasn't implying that our hitting coaches are miracle workers. I was just wondering what these two former major league hitters are thinking when they watch our supposed franchise player take an AB.

Has to be frustrating.

I'd tell Julio and JP they need to be guys that drive the ball to the opposite field gap and they should swing like it.

Swinging like every ball belongs in the upper deck isn't going to end well for either of them, especially JP.

I just saw a couple of the minor league lineups. I don't recognize hardly any of the names. What's happened lately? Seems like disappearing top prospects.

I'm interested to see if JD takes a flyer on a just released Angel's pitcher.
Hans Crouse, 26 y.o., 6'4", 180# RH reliever, is a solid K pitcher. Came up as a starter
His fault is walking too many batters, gets that a little under control, then BBs too many again.
Saw some speculation that there is injury concern with him. Kick the tires before buying.

So, some warts, but possibly a solid reclamation project.
