This is a national piece from the Athletic. Non M's specific.
Three prospects scouts liked this week
Jonatan Clase, Seattle Mariners, CF
Team: High-A Everett AquaSox/Double-A Arkansas Travelers
Age: 20
Stats: .293/.400/.620, 11 HR, 0.52 BB/K

Scout says: I saw him before he was promoted to Double A, and I was blown away. He only got $35,000 to sign in 2018, but he’s a real center fielder with plus-plus running ability and who can really hit. He’s a switch-hitter with an all-fields approach, good bat speed and good barrel awareness, although I mostly saw him hitting left-handed. He’s a smaller guy, but there’s some power. He had an absurd amount of stolen bases at the beginning of the year — 17 in 21 games — and was hitting .333 with seven homers in Everett. The knock on him is he’s an undersized guy — I actually think he’s a bit taller than his listed height of 5-foot-9, and he’s a lot stronger than 150 pounds — but he can really run and defend and swing the bat. It’s a super, super tough at-bat. He sees pitches and doesn’t expand a whole lot. There’s some swing-and-miss in there, but he puts the ball in play and finds gaps and goes the other way, and he can hammer a ball to the pull side. He got off to a slow start at Double A, but he’s one of their top guys.

I don't care if he is the size of a Jockey. 11 Bombs in 40 games completely eliminates concerns about size.

If he's 5'9" or above, it starts to matter less and less. I think below 5'9" it gets kind of iffy just because there are fewer guys that have succeeded. But there've been lots of guys 5'10 and 5'11".

They didn't succeed because they didn't have power. Altuve is 5'6" and a likely HOFer.

Height is meaningless in baseball.

He's the exception though. Mostly, those guys don't work out.

I wouldn't say height is meaningless. I don't know what the average is, but I would guess major leaguer is well over 6'. And it's important because of leverage. But not having height isn't the same handicap that it is in other sports, that's for sure.

Right but you can't hit 11 HRs in 40 games without leverage even in A/AA. That eliminates any concerns about it.

Clase with another bomb. OPS at Ark now .874.

He should be on the roster later in the season if mariners are fighting. Might be good for a win or 2 just with his speed alone
