where the "too much time off" issue comes from it seems
Twenty-one teams have swept an LCS. Only eight went on to win the World Series. The previous five teams -- and seven of the past eight -- to sweep an LCS went on to lose the World Series. Digging deeper, since 2006, the team that clinched its pennant first has won the World Series just twice -- the 2008 Phillies and 2018 Red Sox -- making the early clincher 2-11 in that span.

Obviously, their fan base needs to learn their geography. :D

Great information, as I suspected.

Well the Nats are going to be underdogs in the WS and it has zero to do with them sweeping the Cards and forgetting how to play baseball over the next few days.

Being an underdog may be a plus.

Yanks-Astros rained out, another day for the Nats to sit, could be a damn week?

I wonder if they will remember the rules of baseball or will have to go through a refresher course the day before game 1? :)

Ah, but it’s amount Momentum, hot bats, hot pitching, in a groove, interrupted by at most a single day.

Too many idle days, too much time to think, you get restless, lose that crispness.

You get stale.

Not a perfect analogy, but you see these starting pitchers dominating a game for say, 6 innings, then, a 2 hour rain delay.

They seldom continue.
