Here's something of mild interest. Erick Fedde was a first round draft pick for the Nationals and once a highly touted prospect. He struggled in the majors though, with an overall ERA of 5.41

https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... er01.shtml

So he goes to Korea, throws 180 innings with a 2.00 ERA and wins the Korean version of the Cy Young award. Now he's a free agent.

He could be Chris Flexen 2.0 which would be good if we got the early version of Flexen and not the last year of Flexen.

It's always a risk, but I can see Dipoo signing him as a BOR guy. Former prospect with lots of potential...failed potential in the majors...reinvents themselves in another league and tries for a glorious comeback. Sounds right up Dipoto's alley.

Terms of letting him walk, what were they supposed to do?
Put him on the 40 man roster.
Bolton doesn't have to go on the 40 man. It's a function of the roster which I not a clue. If it saves you a spot on the roster and the 40th man is more valuable than Carlson then it be the proper more
Yeah when I said I was surprised didn't mean I was questioning it. He was almost 25 years old throwing to kids in A ball.

Morosi lists Justin Turner as a fit for the Mariners...

Weird Mariners Twitter Account laments the M's adding a 39 year old DH as "good for players like Kelenic, Canzone, etc..."

This is why the Mariners are a mediocre franchise.

Yeah, so? What is wrong with going into the season with him and then trade him him after June 15? If he is hitting keep him and :o you have a hitter in your lineup. If he is not you trade him and get something back for him.
What's wrong with it? If they had to keep Teo on the roster that would be the extent of their off season. They aren't allocating $20 mil for Teo to play right field and then bring in another significant piece to play right field on top of it
LOL....umm Teo could play left or, here is a shocker, DH. We don't have enough bats and there is no way we will have enough bats after this off season. And remember this happens only if Teo accepts the QO which is doubtful

Interesting, could be the type of depth move Dipoto might be looking for

Agreed, the only way Dipoto is ever going to be successful doing the rotating DH thing he loves so much is if he creates that type of depth.

Such a dumpster move.

But he has "high contact", so Dipoto will put him on a pedestal even though the actual production from his bat is weak.

He finally decides to use the DH and it's going to be on a guy that used to be good. Like Turner.

I just tried to take a nap and I couldn't even sleep thinking about what a f-ing idiot Jerry is. So once again he is going to limit himself only to RH Bats for no good reason other than he is happy with the young LH Bats so no Bellinger, no Gorman and about 50% fewer options because he is happy with these three young LH Bats. This nonsense is exactly how we ended up with Pollock. Holy shit Jerry is brain dead.

And that's the reason they didn't offer it. Dipoto saying they wanted to go after a different type of hitter. The follow up question being what was the chance of his accepting it? I think Dipoto's reply is, I don't know but I'm not willing to bet my off season on it. Because if he did, that's their off season
I don't know. Holy fucking shit, it is his job to know and if he thinks he would have accepted he is the dumbest Clown on the planet.
It's all that "Marine air" that affects the flight of the baseball. Except experts aren't smart enough to figure that out yet. The Kingdome was an indoor band box compared to the open outdoor Marine air of the PNW. The only reason we were hitting bombs in the 90s was because of the steroid era. That's why hitters struggle when they come here. At least that's part of my theory anyways.
