Ward actually played every day until they called up Laz.

My theory was that pitchers would finally figure that walking this noodle bat fool was idiotic and they would start throwing him strikes. The result: ONE x base hit in 98 PAs.

True, but by my count, according to the game logs, Ward got about 9 games to get acclimated after his trade before they started pinch hitting with/for him and "playing every day" became getting pinch hit for, or coming off the bench to hit for someone else. So, playing every day, sure, but only part of each game. Not easy on the player, imo.

As I noted above, at the time I posted while he was with the Orioles, he had 477 total PA's with:
349 vs. RHP
128 vs. LHP

73% of his at bats against RHP, stayed in rhythm.

Since his first game with the Mariners on 8/4 he has 98 PA's with:
45 vs. RHP
53 vs. LHP

46% of his PA's against RHP, and on the bench half the game.
