Does Uber pay for gas? Or at least partially?

When I go back East for work I always have to take an hour Uber and I've often wondered how that works b/c it seems to be a career for some people.
No. I thank God every day that I don't have to do this for a living. lol I only make about 10-15% of what I used to make but it is total freedom and flexibility. If you don't want to drive or want to go out to lunch or to go camping or vacation or travel for the Holidays you just turn off the app. I have never had a single communication with Uber in almost 6 months. My weekly earnings from the prior week are deposited into my checking account every Tuesday.
Ah got it.

Ya, I figure if you want to make a living you basically have to do make it a 8-10 hour day 5 days a week and even so it's probably probably no better than $40-50k a year.

Thing that sucks for people that don't have your finances is eventually you gotta pay for repairs and get a new car given all the wear and tear.

Cool that it's giving you something to do though.
I actually do 7 days a week when I am home but of course shut er down when the Hawks and Huskies are on. Maybe 4-5 hours a week but it flies by because I am talking to all sorts of people. About 50-60% of people are talkers. And I listen to Sports radio.

You forget posting on the forum! lol :) I actually had a great day today. Turned on the App at 6:00am and made $116 by 9:30am. Then came home had breakfast checked out X and the forum then a couple more rides, then toured a new model home in complex about a mile away so we are ready when our Boston House sells in May 2027. Lynda wants a swimming pool in the back yard and these places are nice but postage stamp sized back yards.

Then home for lunch and a nap. Then I got summoned to take two couples from a Hotel in Wenatchee to Leavenworth. Told them the story of Leavenworth, they had never been and were just amazed when they got there. Then 4 trips in Leavenworth, then home for dinner and now watching the Eagles Skins game. Made a record $217 today driving around listening to Sports radio and chatting with people for probably 5 hours.

No longer have to deal with the idiots and assholes that infest Corporate America. Livin the Dream.

No, you bear all expenses including fuel, maintenance, and depreciation of the vehicle. But you can also deduct those expenses from your taxes.
Yep and they do withhold some for taxes. I won't be paying any taxes when I file.

I retired unexpectedly at 57 yo. Thankfully I was prepared financially but wasn't remotely prepared in terms of lifestyle wise. My whole life I just though retirement will be awesome. I won't have to work. The novelty wore off in less than a month. I never thought there would be too many hours in a day. Thank God for Uber.
My wife reminds me daily of that same phenomena, since she's been retired for 3 years now. I tell her, between golf, poker, backgammon, cribbage, watching sports, fantasy leagues, PC gaming, and more importantly traveling the world, I really don't think I'm going to find that there's too many hours in the day. I think I will be the exception to that rule.

Yesterday, I drove down from Edmonds to visit my folks about 45minutes south of Modesto. My injuries have healed enough that I can go see them for the first time in a year, I have been so tired of hospitals and "resting". My sister and my niece and nephews will be home from their colleges so I can reconnect with them as well...probably won't pick them up and throw them on the couch like I used to. And if I did, my 6'4 and 6'5 nephews might pick me up and throw me across the room and onto the couch!!

May God Bless all of my forum brothers!!
