A Crawford comp terms of his hitting isn't probably that far off. A lot of Donovan's value is his defensive versatility. Donovan is considered to be decent against left handed hitting .249/ .325/ .326 / .651 career

Yep you know I am one of his biggest critics buy happy to admit he knocked it out of the park this time. I couldn't be happier and as a bonus all the Ben Williamson groupies have to move to Tampa Bay.... lol

The Mariners send infielder Ben Williamson to the Rays, as well as prospects Jurrangelo Cijntje and Tai Peete and a competitive balance round B pick (#68 overall) to the Cardinals, receiving infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan from the Cardinals.

I am so happy to be happy about the off season. Might seem like I am impossible to please but I am really not. This was a GREAT trade and lifts the off season grade from a C-/D+ to a B/B+
1. Get our versatile leadoff hitter who gets only base over 35% of the time and make all the Anti K people happy
2. We keep my guy Laz
3. All the Ben Williamson groupies have to move to Tampa Bay. lol

That Tampa went after Williamson is interesting terms of his value. What other reason did they have to get involved other than liking him

Williamson fitting a model for the Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays have reportedly acquired slick fielding third baseman Ben Williamson from the Seattle Mariners as part of a three-team deal. We will update this article when the trade is finalized.
Drafted 57th overall in 2023 after what Baseball America called a “monstrous senior season” at William & Mary, Williamson rocketed up to Double-A in his first season in the Mariners season, and stayed on the fast track by picking up 295 plate appearances for Seattle in 2025, putting up a 90 wRC+ against left handed pitching and a 70 wRC+ against right before getting demoted in August.
Like many young players acquired by the Rays lately, it’s a low-whiff/high-contact/low-power approach at the plate, but Williamson’s comes with a noisy, tentative leg kick that belies a power stroke.

Tampa tends to be smart about these things.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 2:24 amThat Tampa went after Williamson is interesting terms of his value. What other reason did they have to get involved other than liking him
