And even though we have well respected coaches down on the farm, there may be some systemic, overarching mandates from "on high" to develop position players in a way that is detrimental to the player's development. But with so many GM's over the years, how can this organization be so piss poor at developing good players? It has been trying to do so for over 40 years and they have developed only a handful of truly great players, some good players, and some average players. Most of these above average players became so AFTER they left the organization. Thus, we have become the AAAA farm team for all the other clubs. They take our cast-offs and rejects and transform them. How is that possible?
Well respected...

I just heard the Mariners added Shawn O'Malley as a hitting coach.

I mean come on...

Yeah if it was a development issue he would have washed out in WV Modesto, Ark or even T town. Zero issues until he stood a top the ancient Native American Burial Grounds that T mobile was built upon.
Hate to burst your theory but there are no burial grounds under t-mobile. before the white man got here t-mobile was under water.
The Jackson Regrade between 1907 and 1910 slashed 85 feet (25.9 m) from the hill,[4] requiring the demolition of the public South School and the original Holy Names Academy[2] but providing fill for the tide flats below Beacon Hill that stretched south from King Street, filling in today's SoDo.
Burials at Sea???
On Aug. 21, 1910, the steamship Buckman left Seattle for San Francisco. Among the passengers were two pirates, veteran seaman French West and a saloon denizen named George Washington Wise.

The men planned to force the ship to beach on the California coast so they could escape with gold they were convinced was on board.

About halfway through the voyage, at about 2 a.m., the pirates broke into the captain's quarters. When the captain, E.B. Wood, reached for his pistol, one of the pirates fatally shot him.

Chief officer R.C. Brennan heard the commotion and intercepted West. One account says Brennan wounded West before the pirate jumped overboard and drowned. Another says West hadn't been shot, but decided to take his chances in the water although the ship was 20 miles off shore.

Wise was captured and was institutionalized in an asylum for the criminally insane.

And while in the asylum he hatched a plan to establish a Baseball team called the Seattle Mariners.........the rest is history..

Its actually 0-31 he was hitless in his last 2 AB's on May 25th. MLB record is 0-54 by Chris Davis. before that I think the record was 0-45. I don't know that Jarred will remain in the big leagues long enough to break that mark.

My dog Henry is three years old. When JK got his last hit he was only 2 years old. Not joking!

The M's are teaching this "Command the Zone" philosophy up and down the organization as I understand. I wouldn't pretend to know what other organizations teach, but I was impressed with Toronto's Vladimir Guerro Jr. the other day when he came up in the fifth inning after already recording a homer and a single. He looked at a high and tight fastball and refused to swing at a belt high fastball just outside the box on an 0-1 count. The broadcaster then surmised that Vlad was likely 'hunting a slider". Sure enough, he got a back door slider, let it travel, and spanked it with an inside-out swing for a double to the opposite field. I have never heard Blowers say anthing like that , usually it's more like "maybe he can get a fastball, middle in". I see a lot of inside-out swings by the Tampa Bay Rays also.... Up and down the lineup they seem capable of attacking secondary pitches. They must focus on some of this in the minors. Tampa Bay has not been able to turn Zunino into a contact hitter though.

Why was everyone so sure that Kelenic was a can't miss player who was ready for the show? Looking back at his minor league numbers, he has played well but not overwhelmingly great in the minors. .838 OPS in A+ .857 OPS in AA, We have 6 guys in Everett and 3 guys in Arkansas that are putting up similar numbers or better right now. Granted he was at those levels at a younger age but In reality his minor league production is not all that different than guys like Evan White, Jake Fraley and Jose Marmolejos. Its not like he was just dominating and playing head and shoulders above everyone else. Did everyone just get caught up in unfounded hype?
