I wish SS would sit his rookies down and watch some tape of Kansas City small ball.
Although their record doesn't show it this year they just play "fundamental baseball".
It's fun to watch. Walk or single to first. Steal second or bunt the runner over into scoring position.
They just kept coming back with that inning after inning. Hitters never gave up with two strikes on them.

Seriously. Why not just bring up anyone from AAA, even if it's only for a week, and give him a shot. If/when it doesn't work out, send him down for someone else.
It's not like the results would be much different than having Murphy or Bauers.
