Beckham should have called off Elias, but Elias was still right there where the ball dropped. They weren't allowed to score 2 errors, so they scored zero.

He is the first baseman and moving forward. It's his play. What the hell is he doing if he can't get to that ball?

I doubt Mallex Smith has any intention of getting picked off so the team can tank.
However, I do believe that nobody in management holds players accountable for repeatedly doing stupid shit. Hence why stupid shit seems to happen on a nightly occurrence.
