M's get Wong for Winker and Toro!!

Loving this trade as long as Wong doesn't pull a Frazier on us, especially in moving from Milwaukee to Seattle. I think he'll do pretty well. He's got some pop and is a plus defender (although Bil in the previous post says he sucks - don't tell us that, Bil!) who's recently won two Gold Gloves.

And if Winker starts hitting in Milwaukee it doesn't matter because he didn't hit in Seattle. Not to mention dumping Toro and presumably letting Frazier go.

So since Winker's gone, Lewis is gone, Haniger is likely gone, and playing Kelenic would be the stupidest thing in the history of everything, presumably we're still shopping for a good outfielder.

Yes, Jerry will come through with an OFer. That's a lock. Frazier is Gone with the wind, Probably in Indo China by now.

Too bad we can't send him to Tacoma if only to say "Down goes Frazier".

With Winker heading out we have plenty of room left for a LF and a DH.

He had 3.1 WAR in less than 500 PAs. More like a 4 WAR guy for a full season.

Not dissing the trade....but Wong sucked defensively last year and will regress offensively because of T-Mobil

I have probably never disliked a player more. I hate his style of play. Drives me up a wall.

Best part of this trade is getting rid of Winker and Toro. Not seeing either of them in an M's uniform ever again is a win in itself. That said, I don't see how acquiring Wong with his career .732 OPS (which will only go lower as he ages and playing in T-Mobile) helps to close the gap with Houston in any way. He's a slight upgrade from Frazier, but not in a significant way.

He's the type of player a team like KC or the A's with very little resources ($) would trade for. I've very lukewarm on this deal. How does a middle infield of Crawford and Wong compete with a middle infield of Pena and Altuve.

Sorry to be a downer, but this just doesn't excite me in the least, other than the addition by subtraction aspect of getting rid of the two black holes and a clubhouse cancer in Winker and Toro. I think by midseason, everyone here is going to be complaining about Wong the same as we were about Frazier. I really hope he proves me wrong and makes me eat crow.

Definitely nice to see them ship out the guys they continued to put in the games waaaaaaay longer than they should have.
