They didn’t the last 2 years when there were FA worth signing. Unless they can sign Ohtani. My coworker who a dodgers fan thinks the mariners are the perfect spot for him

The M's are a perfect spot for him.

They need his bat in the worst of ways and have the luxury of being able to wait for his pitching. Signing him gives them the insurance to move on from one of Miller or Woo for more bats.

He'll also pay for himself w. the sales he'll bring and the rush of Japanese fandom to M's games again.

The press conference yesterday proves that not making the playoffs did NOTHING to sway their organizational philosophy.
