The issue is why is he swinging at garbage isnt it, anybody could tell him not to swing at it, you could tell him thatD-train wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:10 amSo Edgar telling him to be patient and not swing at Garbage all weekend wasn't enough. He needs to hear it every day for a month and then he will finally decide to take the advice? The results might take time but he could change his approach tomorrow if he wanted to.

He hasn’t made any adaptions to how teams have decided to attack him. He either won’t listen or simply can’t make the corrections needed. There is zero chance any of his hitting coaches simply said “stop swinging at shitty pitches”, and expected a light bulb to come one. They have obviously spent hours upon hour with films and drills and BP. He just can’t or won’t make the adjustment.
It’s not easy, and often times, when things have always been easy and they aren’t anymore? That is the hardest. I’ve obviously never seen it at that level, but I see it all the time. Flaws in mechanics are over looked because “it’s always worked before”.
There is a fine line there though. Heather Tarr is the best softball coach I’ve ever been around. She tells us that especially in male coaches, we get a kid that doesn’t do something completely orthodox, but they have had great success. We think it would be better with a tweak, and then the kid stops hitting. I realize it’s not the same thing, but again, it’s a hard line to decipher between sometimes.
I’m sure after J Rod’s MVP type season, he and his coaches were slow to make adjustments this year. And now it may be too late.

At the 12:40 Mark in the Brant Brown Interview, he talks about Julio. He said their analytics were telling them that he was better at hitting off speed away than he is at hitting fastballs in so they actually coached him to leave fastballs in alone and to swing at sliders out over the plate. This could explain why he is chasing so many sliders away. I think this staff totally messed him up.

Oh wow! The Brown interview I saw earlier was a real short one. I probably ended up playing it in the middle. They told a power hitter to lay off inside fastballs and go after breaking balls away? Yes, I’d say they might have messed him up a bit.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:24 pmAt the 12:40 Mark in the Brant Brown Interview, he talks about Julio. Comes as no surprise. IMO, the ball park and the weather aren’t the only reasons guys hit better everywhere they play but in an Ms jersey. Maybe that has something to do with Julio’s statement about just being an employee. He did what he was told, and look at the results!?
