Ms won 116 in that “dumb stadium,” by the way.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:00 amD-train wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 1:35 amI can't stand people that make excuses for a guy that makes MILLIONS to build a winning roster and has completely failed time and time again. Yes your hindsight is off the charts. Most of us applauded the 140 OPS+ bat Winker brought and Saurez was a bounce back salary dump.
Polanco, and Ray. I remember a majority of us (vastly so) counted them as good moves.
I can't stand people who look at moves at the time and go "We signed the reigning CY"! Fk, yes! And then a ho-hum 1st year followed by a injury and "The Great Leader~Cap" comes on-line and makes his little gay list and proclaims he is better and smarter and all the trades he would have made would have worked out! I would have signed only guys that would have thrived. "I Cap would have graped Billy B into trading his top 10 hitter to his division rival"! You bet ya. "I am Captain I know who fails and thrives and develops ahead of time I have a set of crystal balls between my legs that I rub and they give me insights into all future events" "I am the Alpha and the Omega, I am Cap, hear me roar."
Cut the Cap!
Raley: His best addition and they don't even let him hit vs. lefties had a cold second half last season.
Polanco: Injury prone and erratic
Garver: If you squint you can kind of understand Garver given his OPS in 2023. But so many red flags
1. Always Hurt
2. Getting long in the tooth
3. Hit in an amazing lineup
4. 0-32 at T Mobile (now 20-173, .118 BA)
Haniger: Expecting him to be a key contributor was asinine.
Vargas/Seby: Good God, Helen Keller could see that shit show coming. Worst pitcher in AAA last season and a dogshit negative WAR BU catcher for a league average 3B
Urias: Negative WAR clown that was ok two years ago
Epic Fail.....again.
He didn’t build a dumb stadium that kills hitters.
None of these geniuses that think they are smart calling out every failed player as a dumb decision and thought they would made the right choice is dumb.
I recall you and Anthony being pumped up on Ray the reigning CY signing. But now two year later I look at some Monday Morning QB callling it out as dumb. I remember my thoughts were basically ha had a couple of CY type years a good TOR type and then some not so good years. When I look back at so many of these moves I remember supporting 2B Wong I was like He has been a 105-110 guy the last few years. Contract year maybe he has another “Up” year. I was fairly high on Saurez having a rebound and I was high on the 140’s OPS+ Winker had coming in. Garver is a guy I thought we might try to get from Minny. I had no expectations for Mike Ford. I thought about the prospect status of Robles but thought of it as a lotto ticket. I was up on Teo and he did have a 107 OPS+ which was disappointing but he still but up 20+ with 93 RBI.
The problem was never Scott, DeHart, JD. The fault is listening to 20+ years of hitters telling you how much they hate hitting at Safe KO’d shitters park. Remember how Beltre put up over 9 WAR 163 OPS+ with (48 bombs League #1)the year before and then ages 26-30 with us he maxed out at a 112 OPS+ with us and then put up a 141 OPS+ at age 31 in Boston and was #1 with 49 doubles 7.8 WAR
In both years he was a top 10 MVP vote guy and in none of his Seattle years was awarded with a MVP vote at all. Beltre was a 93 WAR guy who was a 1st ballot HOFer. Yet, he got Safe KO’d
I was pretty impressed that they got him but why has it taken over 20 years of BS and that organization has done nothing to fix the main reason the M’s are a f-ing laughing stock.
That is what these brave lil boy wonder writers need to be smashing into the faces of Mariner organizational types.
Fix the problem don’t fire arrows at the deck chairs on the Titanic
And I almost forgot:
Cut the Cap!
Was there no marine layer then?
