Note that while he wasn't great prior to that ill advised cameo he has been horrid after it.

You can't blame that cameo for his problems. He had control issues before, during and after his stint in Seattle. He also already had made his MLB debut last year, so its not like M's gave him his first taste of MLB, he pitched in a playoff race for the Yankees last year.

Not blaming it but it obviously didn't help.

If he doesn't start pitching better, he can definitely quit thinking about making it.

Seems like it was exactly what he needs. If 3 innings of MLB work was enough to detour him as a prospect, then he probably doesn't have what it takes. Thats my opinion. I don't blame the organization one bit. Sheffield needs to get his stuff together.
